30 day Visa Question

If a international passenger arrives on Jan 1st at 10am does the 30 visa begin on the 2nd of Jan?

Your passport is stamped upon arrival so 30 days from that.

The 30 days begins the next day. Correct

This had me looking at my passport.

When I arrived on the morning of Jan 9 of last year, my passport was stamped:  Arrival Jan 9 with a handwritten date that said valid until Feb 8.

Checking further.  When I arrived on any month with 31 days, my passport had a handwritten "valid until" date which was the following month less one day.  So arriving on Nov 13 gave me a visa that was good up to and including Dec 12.

So that's clear as mud right?
