Would love to drive a car with this engine in just once - bucket list wish I know I will never realize. Put this in one of your x-box cars, @graham59? https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/enthusiasts/hennessey-venom-f5s-engine-makes-1817-hp-fury-comes-standard/ar-AAI7uW8 Wow! Can you imagine 1100 lbs of torque! Noticed a Jay Leno video about the 2012. It is only capable of 1200 hp. Very informative video interview with Hennessey.
graham59 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) Yes, they have a lot to thank good old British 'Lotus' for. Very impressive ! Sadly not in the line-up on the Xbox, though I do have Saleens and an SSC 'Ultimate Aero' to play with... if talking American hypercars. Looking back.... with a very fast car, at Suzuka GP track in Japan... noticed while I was scanning my YouTube just now. Don't know why I had the braking arrows on the corners (for newbies) turned on, but never mind. I use a steering wheel and foot pedals, plus manual gears. Anyway, I hope you enjoy 'pretending' . . Popular Post Marvin Boggs Posted October 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted October 3, 2019 In middle school I met up with a crazy kid who would not shut up about VW bugs, and I used to tease him mercilessly about it. This was the '70s. We had one thing in common, we both liked to draw cars. By the time we were 13, he had is first bug, a '61 that was really nice, but he and his dad were going to tear it down all the way and build it up. One day he asked me to ride over to his house to help remove the engine, since his dad had a hurt back. The two of us had that thing sitting on the ground in 20 minutes. After that, I would come over after school to help out, take junk yard runs with him, then it was on to the swap meets and shows. By the time he turned 16, it was a show quality "Cal-look" V-dub, and something to be damn proud of. I had an Oldsmobile with about 4x the horsepower, but I couldn't deny the appeal of the VW and its genius design. A whole new world opened up to me. It started a 30+ year love affair with VWs, owning and working on them, first air cooled and then the water cooled. It culminated in the eventual acquisition of my lifetime dream car, a mint '90 Porsche 911 (964). God, that thing was drool-inducing. Gorgeous to behold, modified in just the right ways, and fast as hell. The Porsche went away during my divorce, just could not settle our debts with it on the books. But that crazy kid and I are very good friends to this day. It pleases me here in the Philippines to see so many old air-cooled bugs. I'm going to have another one at some point :) 4 1

graham59 Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) They can have the horrid rubber bumpers and raised suspension (for the US market) back for starters. I might give a few thousand for an earlier V8 model. Friend of mine used to own one back in the day. The other (heavy) MGB GTs, you can keep. Give me a chrome bumper/fender convertible, maybe. . There's a beautifully done MGB roadster with a V6 conversion right now on BAT. Looks like it would be a whole lot of fun! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1980-mg-mgb-44/ Backdated bumpers are nice, and the subtle fender flares seem to really fit it perfectly. Would not have thought so.
graham59 Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Good effort on that white one, but I see no mention of any (extremely important IMO) suspension upgrades...coil-overs, and stiffer bushes, for example. Plus, the braking upgrade is minimal. Then there is the new weight distribution. Hmm. Presumably built to be cruised gently around town.
