My visa expires on the 20th of August

I have found a flight out at a reasonable price but the date available is the 20th. So my question is the visa still valid until midnight the 20th? That's the way I see it but ....

Anyone flown out on the same date as the expiry ?

That is a tough one that maybe only BI can answer if you can't get lucky here.  I googled and didn't find anything.

Air Asia is having a sale and I also booked a ticket for the 20th, but only domestic, Clark-Cebu, down to your neck of the woods.  We are going to spend a week down there as there are two school holidays during that time.

I wouldn't bother risking it to be honest, sounds like the start of a Daily Mail headline. ' Australian detained and being held in detention facility in the Philippines despite leaving before his visa expired' lol

I up until last year used to do 3 or 4 trips to the Phils per year.

I always left on my last day of permitted stay... and I would say yes, up to 12 midnight would be logical.

You will be charged around p1000 per day overstay, if the Immigration officer disagrees, though I doubt that is going to happen.

If in doubt, do by all means consult with BI, or at least an experienced local travel agent.

Yes, I have only done it once but I have left on the last day.  I did know one fellow who was threatened to be charged at the airport for an overstay because his plane left after midnight.  But he was checking in before midnight so he just got a lecture and they let him go.  YMMV

Yes my way of thinking is that visa expires at midnight on the said date. If I get the flight I will be leaving in the morning so shouldn't have any trouble since in practical terms I have all day.

I think you will find that strictly speaking, once past Immigration, as a passenger, you are officially no longer 'in-country' . :89:
