I don’t want anything to eat

This last weekend I took Emma and her niece to London to stay there for a few days , they was stopping at a cousins house and I was to drop them off and travel back home a hour or so later, I had already told Ems I don’t want anything to eat once there just a drink and I would be off.

Well I may as well spoken to the brick wall, when we arrived those magic words was ringing in my ears ( along with the tinnitus) LETS EAT!, the table had been set and the lamb had been cooked, prawns was overflowing, Dauphinoise potatoes , garlic bread and NO RICE.

All I wanted was a cup of tea, but Ems was filling my plate as I was asking for my tea, why don’t they just listen to us when we say I don’t want anything , well after chewing a little bit of garlic bread and  those potatoes I was ready to go back home , why don’t they just listen when we say we don’t want anything.

They listen.  They hear what they want.  They ignore anything else.  Then they tell you what you are going to do.  And then you do it.  Ranting on here is just a bonus.

I could understand that if it was ****ing Ethiopia .

I just play along - take the plate of food graciously and eat as much/little as I want and find a nice little place to leave the half-full plate and feel not one bit of guilt in doing so.  It's a pet peeve of mine when people impose their hospitality on me despite my already having said I don't need anything.

Red meat I can go without and when it’s there looking at me I just think I cannot eat that, then when they say just try a little, its nice, yes it could be nice for everyone else but not for me, thanks for letting me vent my anger on here boys , I feel better already but now I am hungry , where’s the biscuits.

That's a headshot bullseye Graham!  Just like carrying around a dead smartphone while pretending to use it in a shopping mall.  Status symbol is so important, especially in this particular food chain (developing nations).  

Often times in Steve's situation, it is the ladies themselves that are starving after shopping until they drop.  They will prepare a meal that would feed an army while you sit at the head of the table, making them feel less guilty of over indulgence......he, he.

And of course, don't forget another Filipino culture pertaining to food.  As you announce your departure to the host (yep, another Filipino trait), they will make sure that your departure is not without Tupperwares full of leftovers.  Hell yeah, cold lumpia with a cold beer later works for me.....he, he.

My wife always cooks too much food, I used to just go along with it but we are retired and food is expensive, she cooks enough for an army at lunch and I'm thinking I have leftovers for the next 3 days but she's already cooking something else for dinner.

BBQ contrary to popular belief is not cooking....it's burning meat, or veg, whilst drinking copious amounts of beer, not a negative by any standard. Proper cooking is something else entirely.
