A good number of the condos offered on Airbnb (not only in Makati obviously) are cockroach infested. You want to contact the owner in advance to be doubly sure it isn't the case, and let him or her know that you have no intention of completing your stay (i.e. you'd cancel for a refund) if the unit is full of cockroaches.

It's trendy to 'buy a condo and rent it on Airbnb' these days and many owners are far from being professional hosts. Fumigation is expensive so they just don't do it. The guest reviews are often not reflecting the problem (people just accept that cockroaches are an integral part of the unit).

Yes I stayed in a very expensive condo in Cebu that was cockroach infested.  Welcome to the Philippines.  I have also stayed in expensive hotels in the Philippines with ants or bed bugs.  It is what it is.  But its a treat to find one clean of all vermin.
