Popular Post stevewool Posted January 25, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted January 25, 2020 Pay day for the workers and at 5 pm we gave them there money and it was thanks mam thanks Sir and see you Monday and off they went, the next minute they was back , Mam Sir you have paid us to much we had half a day the other day. We both had decided to pay them the full week as it was our fault the material was not on site for them to continue the work, but it was nice that they did come back to say we had overpaid them , I knew we had very good people working for us . 6
stevewool Posted January 25, 2020 Author Posted January 25, 2020 Another week has gone by and some more progress, another day to finish of the room on the roof, and they will start at the side of the house building the canopy , I have asked them about the window in the outside wall , I want that filling in with blocks but they say it could just be covered with cement, so that’s a must because someone thinks that’s going to be his Sari sari store and it’s NOT. Anyway onwards and upwards
stevewool Posted January 27, 2020 Author Posted January 27, 2020 The young worker is at it again , no safety boots , hard hat or safety glasses , but he did have 1 foot on the ladder , so we are getting somewhere.

At least he's got the main line to hang onto if he slips.

hk blues Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 I've seen construction workers on the large sites with PPE but never on small projects - slippers being the norm along with a rag tied around the head to protect from the sun and a pair of (fake) Raybans for welding. Not surprising as life seems cheap here when you see how they drive/cross roads.
stevewool Posted January 28, 2020 Author Posted January 28, 2020 Only 2 workers turned up today the young lad did not show, so a slow day today, electrics are being added to the room upstairs and the window in the wall have been taken out and filled and the lean to at the side of the house has nearly been taken down , so we should be ready for the canopy to start tomorrow , just hope it does not rain tonight, it’s going to fun when FIL sees his den with no roof on .
stevewool Posted January 29, 2020 Author Posted January 29, 2020 A busy day today, the so called scaffolding started going up this morning with every bit of wood they could find plus lots of old rusty nails, the electrics have been made tidy and there is going to be outside lighting . I thought it would be a good idea to use the old corrugated roofing sheets rather then plywood that way we would have a pattern then another brainwave rather then cutting the corrugated sheets let’s just fit them longways to save time , I am hoping it will turn out nice plus instead of 20 inches wide it’s now nearly 36 inches wide. So tomorrow the concrete will be poured after a few more pieces of rebar is fitted . 2
