Popular Post stevewool Posted December 14, 2019 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2019 Had my first ride This time in the jeepney the other day and you forget how bad it was until you are in the sardine can again. It was only a short ride and it would have took us around 10 minutes to walk but we had to ride there, which one Ems ,Ermmmmmmm this one , no that one, What am I looking for I asked , the sign in the window, well there is every sign about God, Elvis and what ever else that takes there fancy plus lots of different colours everywhere. I can remember as a kid crawling through pipes and squeezing through holes and thats what it felt like getting into the jeepney, talk about keeping your head down, but don’t tend down to much or your back bone scrapes down the roof rivers or your ear gets caught in the bell wire, and all that’s before you are treading on the other folks feet, sorted found a place to try and put one bum cheek in , then you relax only to find out that everyone is looking at you as you are sitting like the Hunchback of Norte Dam . The next problem I had was we had no idea where we should be getting off, so Ems said look out the window for the sign of the place, well we knew what side of the road , but as I tried to bend my head further down I was getting rather close to someone’s crotch, ok it was a female and I thought this is going to look bad, so I just said to ems I think we are here, ok I lied but the walk was better then what could have happened with my head in someone’s lap, yes it’s fun but getting on for 6 ft tall , big boned and size 13 feet , fun can soon wear off 1
graham59 Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I'm used to them now Steve (and I'm 6'1"). Try to wait for a higher-roofed one to come along if you're big and tall... same goes for trikes. Also, try to grab the seat nearest the back 'door'. Saves climbing over people, ...or next to the driver. 21 pesos for a 10 mile trip here in the province, can't be argued with on my budget though.

Whenever I read similar topics, westerners seem to forget everything that is difficult or in some case unbearable in the Philippines. Conversely, westerners are shocked whenever they return to their home country for a visit or to stay, since they've forgotten all of the conveniences that they had to live without whilst living in the Philippines.
