This one has more powerful loudspeakers, capable of shouting "Ok, sorry to have bothered you!" to the Chinese ships from a long distance. 2
Freebie Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Good name.. Silang in Cavite being named after Gabriela.. and the very pro womens advocacy group aka Gabriela from the same name. She was a fierce warrior at least as evidenced by the statue of her at crossroads of Makati and Ayala Ave. possibly she was one of the 11 ( i think ) Philippines heroes. 1
Forum Support Tommy T. Posted December 27, 2019 Forum Support Posted December 27, 2019 Sadly... just keep in mind that, if there is ever any hint of conflict between Phils and China, count on that handsome ship being destroyed almost instantly. But it may be a good deterrent for illegal foreign fishermen from Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia? It, understandably, does give a sense of pride for the Philippine Navy (or coast guard?) and I see that as a great positive!

Or drug/ child trafficking, terrorist, I think they need more than one boat to patrol the sea of the Philippines.

I've no idea how many boats and/or ships they'd need to patrol the EEZ around the Philipines. There is a list on wikipedia of the various classes and numbers if you're interested. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_equipment_of_the_Philippine_Navy Edited December 30, 2019 by GeoffH

The last one was in 2016. I think they are the largest ships in the PH Navy. These are also considered OPV, Offshore Patrol Vehicle. I think two are based in Subic. The problem is, they always seem to be at the dock every time I take pictures of that dock area. They don't seem to patrol much. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Del_Pilar-class_offshore_patrol_vessel
