Pinatubo eruption. I actually have AK. I was stationed at Clark when the volcano started rumbling. Came out one morning from the RAPCON and heard a blast off in the distance. Looked towards Pinatubo and saw a huge plume. Me and my family left Clark about a month before the fireworks really started. I was also living in Tacoma WA when Mt. Saint Helen's blew up. Hmm. Seems like I have a thing with volcanoes. Edited January 15, 2020 by Balisidar

What a mess. The ash was fairly coarse and gritty, the city hauled it away by the truckload for weeks. The road out of San Fernando towards Olongapo was just a dike of compressed ash and the traffic was kicking up a tremendous cloud. The whole countryside looked like someone had just poured concrete over it with bits of roof poking out here and there. I didn't realize that volcanic ash was heavy enough to cave in roofs. I always thought it was just a dust like material. I read about the lahar flows. Fortunate to not have experienced it.

Kuya John Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 (edited) My wife's making her way back to Mindanao via Dumaguete today, ( sadly after the funeral of her brother). Is this something to be concerned about having read further today? Taal Volcano Eruption in the Philippines is Looking Bad, with Worse to Come Edited January 16, 2020 by Kuya John

Taal Volcano Eruption in the Philippines is Looking Bad, with Worse to Come I assume she will be going to Mindanao from Dumaguete by ferry so shouldn't be a problem.
bastonjock Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Unless there is another eruption there should be no problem
