Usually COD or a pay partner is available.  If COD is not available I'll pay at 7/11.

Yep...but troublesome to have to trek to the nearest 7/11 - easier to just use the card.

I'm guessing that I've bought at least 50 or so products from Lazada. COD. Maybe 3 or so of those were deficient. So far so good.

I've probably bought around 25 or so items on Lazada - 75% were COD.   Of the 20, probably about 30% were defective/disappointing in some way, including 20 solar lights which lasted about 3 months, another 4 which lasted between 1 month and 3 months and then disintegrated in the sun!  I bought  a kitchen roll holder last week - it was bent!  I ordered 10 plant pot holders - 1 was broken.  I ordered 10 metal plant pots - only 1 was delivered.  I ordered a box of Beyblades for my son - they were fakes. A USB power cable split in half so i had to tape up with electrical tape.  4 expensive dining chairs - 3 had the leg end caps missing. I could probably go on.  However, I still shop there but am more selective about what I buy and manage my expectations and expect the worst.  Sometimes there aren't any other places to buy so I accept the compromise.

I'm actually quite impressed with Lazada despite the above!

Funny. I bought those stupid solar garden lights also. Maybe not the same ones but after 3 days half of them were kaput. I still shop there because most of what they sell is pretty good. Most of my small electric kitchen appliances I got from them, all are working. Easier than traveling to an SM Appliance store and getting stuck in traffic.

Probably the same ones as I bought - all were perfect day 1.  By day 3 or 4 the numbers were dwindling - amazingly 1 still works after about a year!  Despite what i said, most stuff is reasonable enough - with minor repairs/touch ups they are good enough. I only had the need to send one item back - the process was simple and the refund came within a few days.

They give you a shoppee "wallet" where they keep your cash until you spend it at another shoppee outlet

Actually, you have to set up the wallet, and if you don't, they will pay direct into your bank account.  Of course, you have to give them your bank info.  Preferable to putting it in the wallet that forces you to spend it on Shopee.

Funny how they could do that when they do not have my bank account.  Here is an actual email they sent me when my purchase got cancelled and the money was automatically sent to a "not-yet-set-up" Shoppee Wallet.  Could be they changed things since this email.  (We had and exchange of many emails as I paid by sending cash and they put the refund into a Shoppee Wallet which was a PIA):

Spoiler

Hi Dave,

Good day!

Thank you for sending an email to Shopee Philippines. My name is Ysel, and I understand that you are unable to purchase using your funds in Shopee Wallet. I'm sorry to hear that and we appreciate the urgency, let me assist you today.

In line with your concern, payment using Shopee Wallet is a new feature that will allow user to pay for their orders using stored credits.
Shopee Wallet balance can be earned from refunded payments and completed sales.

Terms of use:
1. The user can no longer change payment method once wallet payment is confirmed.
2. Refunds will be returned back to Shopee Wallet.
3. Shopee Wallet balance should be greater than or equal to the checkout amount.
4. A buyer is only allowed up to a total of ₱100,000 per checkout.
5. Shopee Wallet can be used for 10 checkouts per day.
6. Buyer will still earn Shopee Coins.
7. Buyer will still be able to use voucher/coins and other promotions.

  Reveal hidden contents

They must have got a lot of complaints and changed it.  I have 4 notifications that basically say "Please activate your ShopeePay within 3 days after your refund is approved.  Else we will send you refund to your bank account.  Please set up your bank account".

Just my opinion. I would never ever give any of these internet shopping places my credit card number. COD or nothing.
