Popular Post PaulB Posted March 5, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 5, 2020 (edited) Dear Fellow Members I hope people will not see this post negatively. I have worked hard to achieve this and being separated from my wife is a sacrifice I make to achieve it. My advice to all members who are working still is to use every day to add to your goals for when you retire so you are ready, they are ready and you have provided the comforts and developed your income to be able to concentrate on adapting to the pace of life and not spend your time trying to make the Philippines like your home country because if thats what you want then don't stay. Just a few updates on New Projects. Since we sold our resto, Water station and Mall Concession we have branched out into property and our house improvements. We are building a pool room outside with dirty kitchen and gym (pictures below) and have started to install an internet mast that will provide internet to 60 local people (business of course). I have also been very lucky to buy another 5 bed house to add to our rental portfolio. All pics below. Not all rosey as the rental portfolio does not return what I would expect but we have 17 rooms now so we get a not bad income. I am lucky that we have no mortgage on the properties or it would not be worth it. I am very happy with the internet supply and may also add to the other properties. I still need to work for a couple more years to finish all the things we want but it is not so bad when having a bad day at work to think about what it is providing for our future and trust me working for an airline during this challenging time is stressful. All my plans will hopefully, with my Police medical pension, give a decent income to enjoy life. Oh and our baby is now 17 weeks in my wife's belly and due in August so can't wait to be a 55 year old Dad!! 2bb2f337-2444-460f-ae67-629a3c5ac643 2.MP4 Paul Edited March 5, 2020 by PaulB spelling as drunk when typing
GeoffH Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Looking really good! What's the antenna mast for? Globe at home? Free to air TV?
Guy F. Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 Nice! Rentals of the housing type are the best and safest business to be in in the Philippines, the exception being tourism-relalted rentals in the current climate.

GeoffH Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 It sounds to me like it will have a commercial fixed wireless access point mounted on the mast. They act sort of like the wifi in your home router does but use a higher power, more efficient antennas and height (which increases the coverage area). In my experience they often have a fibre internet connection going to the tower via hardware which enables sharing and monitoring of useage by the customers but smaller local ones sometimes have a link (can be fibre, cable or wireless) to another larger tower where the monitoring is done by the internet wholesaler. I've seen masts with leg steps like that in the philippines used commercially in several locations.
