Your posted article is dated April 8th. The image below is dated March but it's still current. Heres an update, oh, it's from Facebook, BI official No, I can read very well with excellent comprehension, thankyou Quote “Please stay at home, let us all follow the restrictions being imposed by the government to be able to defeat this virus,” he stated. Means they do not want you to go in. "Skeleton crew" upon the inital lockdown announcement meant only go in if you are leaving the country, pretty much all other transactions were suspended. So closed "for all intents and purposes" means exactly that. Please do not put words in my mouth. Edited May 1, 2020 by AusExpat
Snowy79 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Puerto Galera also lasted one day in GCQ before it was upped again to ECQ. Still awaiting a reason.

I have posted before that yes, they want you to stay home, but as to your question, when are they open. They have not closed, but if you need to go for any reason they are open. So not putting words in your mouth as quite clearly they are open. Why do you think they put out notices like closed tomorrow at the such and such satellite office for disinfection bla bla? The "skeleton crew" are only doing exit clearances and from my understanding that is being done at the airport now. So they're "open" but not seeing any customers. So for a customer asking if they are open doesn't that make them effectively not open for business? Let's just hope they using the time to print up a huge stockpile of visa stickers and acr-icards. Snowy79 Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I think the BI office opening and working regulations are working on the good old Filipino method of your mileage may vary. On Boracay they stop you six ft from the door and tell you to go away and come back after the quarantine restrictions have been lifted.
graham59 Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 They need to be able to say (eventually)... "We were open, so why didn't you apply and pay for your visa extension?" ...Being cynical.

I did see about paying at the airport on the way out though. Just can't find the order.
Forum Support Tommy T. Posted May 5, 2020 Forum Support Posted May 5, 2020 I was not sure where to post this one so chose this thread. Please feel free to move it, Mods, if I missed my target? A few days ago, L showed me a video from here Facebook, based somewhere in India. Apparently they have had some issues there - like in Manila - with young people flaunting the quarantine restrictions, mainly the ones about mandatory wearing of masks. The video shows two or three teenagers who were out without masks and just hanging out and wandering. A police patrol picked them up and escorted them to a waiting ambulance. (This was a setup.) They then opened up the back of the ambulance and started to push the resisting and scared kids, one by one, into the ambulance, where there was another plain clothes police lying on the floor pretending to be a virus victim and not wearing a mask. The kids went ballistic and were screaming and crying and fighting to get out of the ambulance through windows and doors, while the cops kept shoving them back inside. The kids were absolutely terrified of getting the virus from the "sick" person. Yeah... I agree that this was totally draconian, and perhaps extreme? But I bet those kids learned a lesson? What do you think? Maybe here in Phils, the cops should parade a gurney with an acting virus patient without mask through the jail or holding areas? Totally unrealistic, I guess, but my wandering thoughts... I am really getting tired of people screaming for "give me freedom or give me death," chants. They just simply either do not think of infecting their elder relatives, friends or others, or do not care. Or maybe they all want Darwin Awards?

I think the whole thing was a set up to drive home a point. If you watch the entire original video, it is like 3 stooges. They do a decent fake struggle to not go in the van, but if they were really terrified for their life, why did they not run? Then when then were in the van, it turns into total b-movie slapstick. Do you really think ALL of them would act like that?

Truth is stranger than fiction however there is Bollywood and their penchant for "drama!" Regardless... It seems like it might be a good idea to at least get someone's attention? Meanwhile, violators in Manila are stacked up on the floor in detention and in very close proximity. A slightly off topic aside... In California, the officials have relaxed the rules for jailing miscreants. I read about a guy who was arrested one day for attempting to steal a car. He was cited and released rather than stowed in jail. Later in the day he was arrested again with stolen goods taken from people's yards in another neighbourhood. Same thing - cited and released. Yet later on that evening, he stole another car and was caught and arrested driving it away... I lost track of the story then because I was sleepy when reading it, but I presume another citation and another release?
