Actually AK is correct, I don't know about the past so I cannot commnet but for the here and now this link is confirmation that FB does indeed sell all your "private" information including your "private messages"

Yeah but...

My reference to "private" had nothing to do with data privacy.  I merely mentioned that we have a private neighborhood group where I get local info, and "private" just means you have to ask to be a member.  So he misunderstands the private part and says "have a mind of your own".  Then he still doesn't understand and makes a few more smart remarks.  That is why he got called out.  It was all unneeded and had nothing to do with the topic.
