Jollygoodfellow Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Might be good news for many. 5 million families added to list of recipients in second wave of cash aid distribution The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) stressed on Saturday that on top of the first 18 million cash aid recipients under the social amelioration program (SAP), some five million families, who were left out in the first tranche, will receive their subsidies in the second wave of financial assistance. This was assured by DILG undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya as millions have grumbled on their non-inclusion in the initial roster of the SAP financial grants. Malaya explained that not all qualified recipients were given the cash grants in the first wave but funds are now available for the next group of new grantees. Earlier, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) based the 18 million low income families on the 2015 survey, which is now far less than the current number in 2020. Malaya said the guidelines for the distribution of the second tranche of cash aid will be discussed in the next Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) meeting. He warned that the financial assistance cannot be split by local government and barangay officials to several households in a bid to spread out the cash aid to other needy families. As mounting complaints continue to rise in the non-inclusion of the qualified beneficiaries, the IATF has recommended the increase in the number of beneficiaries to 23 million low-income families. Under the SAP grant, each household will receive P5,000 to P8,000 worth of cash aid depending on the minimum wage of each region. The payout rate of the cash assistance for poor and vulnerable families affected by the COVID-19 crisis has reached 85.49 percent nationwide. https://news.mb.com.ph/2020/05/09/5-million-families-added-to-list-of-recipients-in-second-wave-of-cash-aid-distribution/ 3
