Why Jacks area continue with GCQ beats me, correct me if I'm wrong but I think no cases or close to none recently so what are they thinking? Lockdown for years just to be sure or until something new comes along?

Because it's the same region as Cebu, and South Cebu is just a 30 minuet boat ride away. There were some  people got caught entering Dumaguete illegally on fishing boats.

I'm with JGF, my base income is tied to here. None for two months and looking like next month will be a challenge too.

I'm still ok, still got food reserves for 2 months very basic living and some bank reserves plus a "get out of dodge" stash but the people where I live are all out trying to work out ways to eat now.

This complete rubbish needs to end or the "solution" is going to be far worse than the few Wuhan virus deaths in this country, or many others.

If you are in a risk group you can continue to quarantine yourself and take precautions, and the "second wave" conspiracy theory - let's wait until it happens before we take action in my opinion. Otherwise it's a slippery slope to pretend safety over every possible disease or misfortune in life.

WTF happened to the two week lockdown to flatten the curve?

We are very fortunate. This whole business has only been an inconvenience. We did have to cancel our trip to the states, but because of the world wide crisis everything was refunded in full.

Luckily we have a guaranteed income and all of her relatives are well off and overseas and most of our neighbors are ok. We all give our government food donations to the poorest of the neighbors.

As I said, it is just a hassle. The wife stays home and I have to do all the shopping :571c66d400c8c_1(103): because of the single person shopping rule and the standing in line to enter a store. But they always let seniors in first (so much for the over 60 being locked down lol) No restaurants and naturally the casinos are closed.

Even the Enhanced lock down was gentle here. Frankly the tricycles and the pedicabs never stopped. I still have done my daily walks but limit myself within our Barangay on major streets.

So for me its has been no restaurants, no barber, no casino and just no outings with the wife.

Having said all that the worst part for me was watching the floundering, the mixed signals and the incompetence of the government dealing with this whole thing...……………….they should have put me in charge!!! :hystery:

This lockdown is getting more stupid, when will it ever end? I can't help Evelyn my wife with the shopping as I'm not allowed out of the house and not allowed in the mall anyway.

Waiting for my credit card to arrive from England sent 3 weeks ago, I know it wont get here any time soon, can't remit my money  from my UK account without the credit card.

When can we travel? I need to go back to England!

Feel for you Jim, strange how the situation changes from city to city.

Here in Bacolod is pretty relaxed apart from the masks.

The expenses are increasing as the OP mentioned. We buy the dreaded UTV milk in bulk, its up 10% as is pretty much everything in the city. Fruits veges also increased, must be hard for the average earner.

Not in my case as I have mentioned before. No money coming in. Now, in anticipation of probable MECQ as the next step for Cebu city I have been informed that guests for short term will be a minimum of 15 days for condos I manage so another nail in the coffin.

Considering the average quarantine time around a week one would need to have at least 15 days here. I understand they quote 2----3 waiting time for tests results how ever a little digging reveals different.

We bought some UHT milk from Belcris cheaper at 57p 1 liter, got a case of 12.

621 new cases yesterday - the highest daily number since the virus arrived.  Perhaps we are about to enter the worst phase rather than exiting it?  It may well be that a stricter lockdown is required OR is it the case that testing is now happening more so of course the number will increase?  The death count will be an important indicator to tell us which way it's going.

Given what I've read from reputable news sources externally of PI reported by journo's in PI, testing rates were very low up until recently so yeah, that could explain it.  The deaths would in theory work as a benchmark but the sources I've seen seem to be understating it there but I can't be sure of that.

Here's one expample of a site that I can't speak to the voracity of the data for PI specifically but it does match that has been reported on other countries:

Scroll down for country specific data.

Cases were always going to increase once lockdown was reduced, this virus has still got a long way to go before it runs it's course.
