The answer is plenty - The rather 'soft' immigration requirements make it easy for law-abiding people like us to live here. The same rules also apply to scum who exploit women, and worse children. Makes me wonder why the authorities haven't tightened things up. I also wonder why the Thai government don't shut down places like Pattaya, Patpong etc etc in Bangkok Maybe the answe to both questions is the same? They have for a number of years now but if you have no conviction or anything how would anyone know who you are. https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1069109/145-foreign-sex-offenders-barred-from-philippines-in-2018-bi
Clermont Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 As I've written in the past, these scum are being collected at the border and turned around, now the problem is, how do they get the existing Pedophilia's out of the PI. Do I dob a Foreigner in for a serious crime or not, ? has been tagged, what's your answer ?

Difficult one, as an innocent person could end up in jail for many years in this country.

It's not an excuse but seems to be like this which I have seen many times over the years in news reports so I guess it's part of the reason. QUOTE "Marcelo said parents or relatives engaged in this kind of abuse believe it is not harmful to their children as there is no physical contact between them and the predator. “Many of them think that since there is no sexual contact, it is permissible to just take videos or pictures of them,” Marcelo told UCA News. Authorities believe poverty is the main reason why parents are increasingly selling their children online as many have lost their jobs due to the economic impact caused by the pandemic. “You will see many of those who do it [online sexual abuse] are families who live below the poverty line. Maybe they really have no choice but to do this to their children. They need money to eat,” social worker Amanda Grajo told UCA News" https://www.ucanews.com/news/filipino-bishops-warn-against-online-sex-predators/88229
graham59 Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Interesting point... though I can't think of anybody in my extended (poor) family here who would stoop so low.

I dont know how poor your extended family is but to me it's more to do with lack of education in the matter. Also I dont expect if someone in your family or up the road was doing this that you would know about it. How many know what others are doing behind closed nipa and waste timber and iron. Haiti is much poorer than the Philippines and though I saw mothers give their children to families that could afford to feed them and send them to school I never saw them farm out their small children to sex predators. Maybe the children were abused later but the mothers didn't agree to that in advance for money. The average per capita income in Haiti when I was about $5.00USD/day. If the adult family members in the Philippines are so poor that they would exploit their children why don't they prostitute themselves, surely they have no shame? Maybe they are just too lazy. They should go to prison along with the exploiter in my opinion.
