Well the test says if you have it now.

That depends; if it's a PCR test then it will say if you have it now and the viral load is above a certain level (very early cases can be missed), if it's an anti-body test then it doesn't tell you if you have it now or if you've had it in the past and recovered.   I read somewhere that the Philippines were using PCR testing which is possibly why the results were slow to come back.

I did not know where to place this post so I put it here...

Yesterday we visited Trust Hardware, a tile supply store and Wilcon. Perhaps half the staff at the first store either weren't wearing masks, or wore them at "half-mask?" (pun intended) - not covering the nose. Several customers were also not wearing masks or at least not properly. L and I are not at all shy about making gestures or comments to people to wear their masks properly. But it is feeling like a losing battle. At Wilcon, most of the staff were masked up, but not always over the nose and many customers seemed to disregard the guidance... oh well...

Yeah... all the stores check our temperature, make us wipe our feet, sometimes wash our hands or at least use some alcohol sanitizer. It is a bit demoralizing for us that so many people ignore or seem ignorant about mask use. So we just stay more careful, keep our distance from everyone and wash our hands a lot. We need to go out to select and buy things for the home build, but it is now an ordeal...

Just thought I would share our experiences and observations...

Pretty muh the same here Tom. Folks pretty much just seem to go through the motions and minimal compliance.  It seems to me that it will be up to the individual to avoid contamination. Either by taking max precautions or just self quarantine

I know I am beating a dead horse to another death.... but I just now read an article online and there were a few lines at the end that, to me, sum this all up at this point in time, for USA and here in Philippines:

>Experts say there are ways to minimize risk as people try to get back to some level of normal life without pushing the economy back into a lockdown. They include wearing face coverings, remaining vigilant about hand hygiene, staying about 6 feet away from others in public and avoiding others if you become sick.

"Everybody needs to take personal responsibility," McDeavitt said. "If we do those things, that will replicate a lot of what a lockdown does.

"But the challenge I see," McDeavitt added, is that "some people are taking it to heart, and others are acting like they're not in the middle of the worst global pandemic of this century."<

Or we can do the ostrich approach and stick our collective heads in the sand and just pretend nothing is amiss? I guess that's okay too... but not for L nor I.

Anyone interested, the link is:

Well Mike J, because Phlpost has suspended delivery, it maybe a while yet. If you are lucky, USPS was suppose to mark any mail to PI  as deliverable and return to sender(treasury). If and when the IRS see's this return, then they are to update your "Get My Payment" portal online as needing more info, then you can update by supplying your bank account info. But how long does it take to register the return is anyone's guess. IRS still haven't processed 1040 returns sent by mail. I understand they had 10 million pieces of mail in trucks to process. So maybe yours and mine checks are in the same truck. IRS said to monitor your GMP portal when it updates.

As I watch the global news feeds, I feel more assured that I am far safer living here there in most other Western cities.  Precautions here in my city and province are draconian and seemingly over reactive to the nature of the current threat status within my local city and province, but I will just have to live with it and not complain despite the level of irrationality  at times..... since the virus is under control where I live at this time.  New cases are listed in the Panay TImes, and almost all of them are coming in from other islands and quickly hospitalized and/or quarantined.

I myself  do not bother to go out at present. My wife is exposed to whatever risk there is when she goes out and uses good protocols,  so all I can do is hope she doesn't become a carrier, as I continue to do a lot of hand washing, take my vitamin D, and wait.... and wait...... and wait into the indefinite future on a steady heading.

Our local  barangay started a two day fiesta yesterday..... we had fireworks last night....  and they roadblocked off our barangay for the event,  requiring a proof of barangay resident pass and ID to gain access for these 2 days. The mayor signed off on it and also closed our beaches. The wife tells me that the military and coast guard personnel are patrolling the beach for these 2 days.  Sort of like a gigantic semi-private block party with the blessing of the larger Gov. Unit.  I really don't understand it, except that they don't want the residents exposed to 'outsider's during the fiesta. Go figure. Before and after everyone mixes at will anywhere in the city and province since there are no longer barangay passes in general use now and the checkpoints are gone within the city.

The malls have different levels of standards, and most people are compliant when necessary, but after sounding the alarm  bell for so long, and no real threat appearing, people are understandably a bit more relaxed...... however, they are not openly defiant or purposely ignoring general health protocols like I see in other places on the news feeds.

I expect area isolations to be something we will have to live with for a very long time.

Despite the inconveniences, I am very content to be living where I am right now.

Yeah, Man... I agree with your sentiments and observations. Sometimes regulations seem a bit odd or inappropriate and definitely not evenly applied.

However, I would prefer to be overprotected rather than under protected. I guess at our advanced ages, the freedoms to just roam around at will are not so important as when we were "sowing our wild oats?" Referring back to a comment or comments I made a while back in other threads, I think a lot of the regulations are directed to those who do not exhibit "common sense?" Or perhaps they just do not care... so then they are forced, or strongly urged? to follow some guidelines or rules?

As I also have said before... I do not have any answers, just our reactions and precautions that we take and will continue to take for the foreseeable future... Better than looking up from a pine (or coconut lumber?) box through six feet of dirt...

Same here in Sta Rosa with an added requirement.  After the feet washing, temp ck, and hand cleaning we have to fill out a form with name, address, ph #, email, and answer a list of about 10 questions and then you are allowed in the store.  So on the way home I stopped at a Shell convenience store to buy a diet coke.  Once in the door same thing.  As I'm filling out the form I asked the clerk is all this necessary to buy just a Coke?  No one else in the store and I walked to the cooler and ,....no diet Coke.  Oh well, we all had a good laugh.

I'm not allowed out of the house according to the Barangay captain. Been refused entry to the mall because I'm a senior, I went to see the captain for a certificate pass (food, bank, necessities) Got refused one, she said seniors not allowed out of the house, told her that was last month and the governor has relaxed that law, but she said that another foreigner who lives on his own has been refused too. He has to pay his neighbors to shop for him, don't know how he gets his money?

It would have been fine, with no restrictions or all the rest, Intrepid, if it was just a regular Coke...:hystery:
