More against the police than including police,  that's the problem, and one you'll never see in the Philippines.

I sincerely hope your right Shady about the Philippines.

But it would not be the first time that the Military have intervine in Politics and it wouldnt take much more for that to happen.

What has happened to the days when you could put your trust in the law?

I'm all for peaceful protests but in Western society, very often anarchist's hi-jack such marches, cause all kinds destruction which turns to violence.

Maybe I should of said in some cases Police are guilty of over-reacting  in certain western countries.

To refer back to the O/P I find it destressing that such an event could happen and I truely hope that the perpetrater's of the killing of that young lady are found guilty.

Current head of Philippines police,  Gamboa says since he took over, 9 months ago  6,000 of these fine specimens have been fired.

Not that many considering there are 209,000 police in country but maybe its a start.

Met with several Filipinos recently and the conversation veered towards the pulis. I asked every one " would you or do you trust the police". 7 out of 7 stated No or No way, or are you kidding. Ask your sweet wives if they do ?

You'd get a similar answer if you were in the US or the UK now!  OK, maybe not 7 out of 7 but a higher number than is good.

Edit to Add - depending on who you ask of course.

You may well be right and yes depending on who you ask, and what their experiences in police interactions were.
