What is the cheapest way to get my dollars from the USA to the Philippines

short of carrying them in my pocket?  BDO just informed me that it will take

60 days and cost $35 to credit my check deposit to my dollar account. It used

to be 30 days and cost $5; I thought that was unreasonable.

I mostly use World Remit, you can send to yourself (or your significant other) and pick up the cash at several chains (like MHLullier) or you can have it transferred from an overseas bank account into most Philippines bank accounts.  There are alternatives like Western Union, Transfer Wise and Remitley (and probably others I don't know about).

I suggest visiting the web sites and checking the fees that would apply from your location to send (just google the company names and the web sites will come up).

I don't have a BDO account but I have been involved in many of these discussions, and never heard of those outrageous fees.  Sounds like a misunderstanding.

As far as I know, BPI is still $5 for a check deposit, and 21-25 days to be available.

If you need to use a transfer service and it is bank to bank, Moneygram is the best deal going right now.

I wonder if the fact that so many Americans are depositing their stimulus checks here has led to the banks "cashing" in?

I don't know of an American who has received a physical stimulus check over here!

Then it won't be that then.

Take a look here, https://www.philippines-expats.com/forum/21-sending-or-exchanging-money/ , would be my first suggestion.

I have succesfully used coins.ph several times (bitcoins to peso), but they do take quite an exchange fee.
