We love fresh coconuts, but don't have the space to plant full size ones here. How is the milk and meat from yours? Is it as good as that from a regular, full-sized tree?

I think the true dwarf coconuts have nuts that grow about waist high.  Our trees are maybe semi-dwarf, we can cut down the nuts using a five or six foot ladder.  Anyway our nuts are perfect, every bit as good as those from the full size tree we had cut down.  I was always worried about having a worker fall from the big tree, maybe 30 plus feet, when I needed the nuts cut down and the fronds cut back during typhoon season.   Watch for rats, man do they love coconuts!  They will eat a hole in the side of the nut, then crawl inside to eat the meat.  Less of a problem now that we have three cats.  And the cats are all neutered/spayed so they stay close to home.

We will see what happens regarding rats. I noticed in most island nations that the locals wrapped some thin steel or aluminum strips around the trunks of the coconut trees in their copra groves to keep the rats from feeding on them. I would be okay with doing that, if necessary.

The rats only need to stand on their hind legs to get to a dwarf coconut.

L assures me that nobody will steal anything there. I believe her since it is a quiet neighbourhood (mostly) and everyone know everyone else...

Not quiet enough to stop them turning off your water though, Tom!

Sorry - just couldn't resist that open goal tap in.
