England (or Great Britain if you prefer)

Tom, Tom, Tom...it's not a matter of preference, rather a matter of fact. :571c66d400c8c_1(103):

Hk... please relax... I really do not recall what the UK might have been called or organized back centuries... especially during the war of independence with USA...  I may be old... but not so old that I remember that!! I was trying to be nice...

And, this time, you have dragged us off topic... shame on you!!!

Most of us are to old to remember what the topic was in the first place.

Sounds like someone's trying to start a war. :89:

Before you start Chaos...it's best to have an antidope, ( if you get my meaning )

Many times during history when a 'rising great power' challenged the status quo war was the eventual result, the difference this time is the world is a lot more 'interconnected' than it used to be with huge amounts of international trade happening that countries rely upon for a lot of their economies funtionality.

Now there has been some 'de-coupling' happening between China and various western economies but there is an increasing push for China to manufacture and sell domestically and not rely upon international markets.

A cynical individual would ask... 'is this being done in the expectation that at some point in the medium term future' China expects conflict (and/or serious trade sanctions) to impact it's international trade and are they trying to build up their domestic trade to protect against that.

Something I will say most western economies are not which would leave us lot at an economic disadvantage in any such future conflict.

Just my 2 cents.

My money is on the next trouble being in Africa. There's a lot of under reporting going on from there and China is knocking on the doors of a lot of the EU interests in the area. Many parts of Africa are old Dutch, Belgian, French and German colonies and the EU has been trying to get their own military defence force set up to protect the EU interests there.  There's a lot of natural resources to be plundered and China is investing heavily on regime change in the region.  Along with the EU I'll add.

That is also an option for other countries, however there are few countries that have the ability to be totally self sufficient and especially in these chaotic times.
