Popular Post Jake Posted February 3, 2021 Author Popular Post Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) WARNING -- RANT ALERT Sovereign and independent nations such as Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Australia are somewhat self sufficient to protect its people and its shores (Australia having a big coastline of 22K miles to protect). However, we are now living in these chaotic times of a global pandemic, spiced with political unrest and ineptitude. And a hungry tiger, salivating in your backyard. You think the good people of Taiwan are a little concern, or look the other way, denying reality? You think the Filipino fishermen are a little concern, now that the Chinese coastguard have authority to use deadly force if caught in "their" waters? (that made headlines last week). Do you think they may need some help? Throughout the history of man, there has been wars of Biblical proportion, beginning with Cain and Abel, to be followed by....you either convert or die by the sword. Fast forward to modern times, Europe has fallen and the Battle of Britain is under siege from Nazi Germany. The Korean war 1950, Cuban missile crisis (1963), Vietnam war (1965), The Falkland war (1982), Twin Towers, Middle East, African, etc, etc. By the way, the Cold War is still active with nuke subs playing chicken under the ice cap. What's next? A Divided States of America? A space war on our moon? Throughout the history of man, is it really good vs evil? Or just plain jealousy of the neighbors' real estate and its natural resources? Is it really imbedded in us to fight and kill? Capable to love as well as to hate? What's my rant? I'm a veteran and I HATE WAR! But it is, what it is....a slap in the face reality check. Respectfully Jake (Thank you Kuya for the lead in. When will the Leaders of the most powerful nations realise the true fight, is the survival of the human race. "Bibical Proportions" is right Jake. Back in the day, humans were defending their home turf in small skirmishes, within maybe a few acres of land?. Then they developed into large battles over time and eventually into world wars... As Jake and Kuya J and others have stated or insinuated, we should now be thinking globally - as in a species currently locked in a finite area - earth (at least for now). @Jakemakes good and interesting points to consider.

It is safe to assume that China, Russia and NK are the belligerent and the aggressor. With all that island territories that China now possess (and still wants more), do you think they will ever listen to that wisdom? Do you think they will ever concede or return those fortified military bases and the rich fishing grounds and oil reserves? How did that happen? Did we sit on our thumbs and looked the other way while they openly built runways and installed missile launchers? For them to "lose face" at this point of time, would be a national disgrace. But let's get back to the topic -- chaos in the skies (News articles that I read in Google News and the Taiwan local news). It's crowded at the 50 yard line with Taiwanese fighter pilots scrambling to counter the Chinese bombers and their escorts. Google how many times the Chinese have penetrated Taiwanese air space during the last 2 years. They are dead set that Taiwan belongs to them. Each opposing military are well armed and has an attitude of a samurai warrior. Both sides are tired and stressed out, which may lead to an accidental weapons release, mid air collision and blue on blue incidents. Do you think they're having fun? Now that the Chinese coast guard have authority to shoot Filipino banca boats fishing in "their" waters, how many will perish before we remove our thumbs out of our asses? By the way, the brand new HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH's battle group is getting ready for its very first deployment. Guess where? I think we would be kidding ourselves if we think the West aren't in it for their own interests. They have the perks of directing how the media reports on the opposition but in reality if the West cared about most things they stop buying from China period, refuse to sell arms to Saudi Arabia and a host of other dictatorships. Personally I think the West are keeping people sweet for more trade deals and to allow companies to set up in foreign lands and take advantage of their resources. As for incursions into foreign air space it's been regular news for the last 40 years when the media has run out of news and it'll no doubt be more common now there's a new POTUS and Covid news is getting boring.

The British Empire and how the West was won with the slaughter of the native Americans, comes to mind. I thought we would learn our lesson after we lost so many young men and material in Vietnam. But no, we apparently would rather hate, even today with all the political circuses around the world. But in this case, protecting your country against an enemy just a hundred miles away should be viewed like an intruder busting through your front door. Read the local news from Taiwan. The prime minister is a female and sounds like she will take no shit. No outside influence for her to take that strong stanch. They have no choice, just like Japan and South Korea. They must be prepared to defend their sovereignty. Possibly, at all cost. Edited February 4, 2021 by Jake

Guess where? Taiwan Strait's? The British Government have offered HK passport holders the right to come to Britian, approx 3 million people. That tells me something! Interesting to see how this offer could be seen as inflammatory depending on which side of the fence you're on. P.S. It's not HK passport holders though, it's BNO passport holders and their dependents. 4
