This is why I originally suggested (and others mentioned as well) the orange card books that are already used for international vaccination records. Those record the date, time and type of vaccination given not just that one has been vaccinated against a particular disease.

I had a similar one in the UK but it was a credit card format - problem is that it could be updated by pretty much anyone so there was nothing to stop me adding vaccinations if I so wished. Something more robust would be needed for the covid vaccine.

The obstacles are the fear of big brother. Those who choose not to be vaccinated calling discrimination. Those who don't have a smart phone being unable to access it. 1

My wife and I are qualified to receive the vaccine. Our preference is an appointment with our health care provider rather than standing in a county health facility walk-in line. It should happen sometime soon. After receiving two shots and waiting a couple of weeks, we would like to plan a trip. One possibility is a long stay vacation in the Philippines now that several restrictions were lifted February 1st. However, we don't want to undergo constant Covid-19 testing as we move around to different provinces. The vaccination passport hopefully eliminates some of the bureaucracy requirements and paperwork. The problem I see is that yes, a person who is vaccinated might not get ill from the virus, but they could still contract and spread it. So I think testing and quarantines will be with us for a while.

The Aussie government are developing an extension to the digital phone 'location check in' app which will include covid vaccination status. I don't think it's aimed at international use at this stage, more so at aged care facilities and hospitals.

Does it work in the deepest, darkest places with next to no signal though, Terry? If there is going to be a global solution it needs to be robust enough to work everywhere.

I don't know the figures of how many international airports in the world don't have WiFi but can't see it being many. Travel within countries or attending venues is something for those individual countries to sort out for themselves. An addition to this. After denial from the UK government they would even consider a vaccine passport. Today they have finally admitted they have funded the development of one here and that they are talking internationally about implementing it

That said, it's probably the least of the problems to overcome for a global system to work. I wonder who will be responsible for implementation and ongoing management of the system? In all honesty I cannot see there being one global system as most countries simply won't want that - they always think their system is the best. We'll end up with a mish-mash of different systems IMO, for political reasons, economic reasons and practical reasons.

I would think airports are on a different internet system to what they give us as free WiFi How they will make the passport system work globally I haven't got a clue. Surely there is a method of getting all of the different national 'ours is better than yours systems' to operate alongside eachother. I don't care how they do it. I want to turn up at the airport show it to a scanner and on my way
