Jollygoodfellow Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Inbound travelers with a negative Covid-19 test result need not undergo the 14-day quarantine, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella confirmed. Labella, however, said Covid-19 positives are still required to undergo quarantine. “Those who arrive in Cebu City with a negative RT-PCR result will no longer be quarantined. For those who test positive of coronavirus, of course, [will be quarantined],” he said. (https://bit.ly/3v9ETzh) According to the mayor, what the city has maintained is the requirement of a negative RT-PCR test for travelers to the city. Authorized Persons Outside of Residence, on one hand, are exempted from the RT-PCR requirement when entering the city. Other requirements, such as travel authority and health certificates, will no longer be required pursuant to the latest guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases. Labella said he may do away with the submission of the RT-PCR test when the city’s Covid-19 cases would decrease and a flattening of the curve would occur. https://visayas.politics.com.ph/cebu-city-scraps-14-day-quarantine-for-covid-negative-travelers/
JJReyes Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 Is there a standard fee for the Covid-19 RT-PCR test or do you have to shop around? Sounds like this is a money maker for private clinics, hospitals and government health centers.

JJReyes Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 At least one important step has been taken. Automatic internal quarantine requirements are removed except when the test is positive for Covid-19. Let's see if they will do the same for international arrivals. Then the Philippines can begin to open up.

The test costs Php 4,000 and you may pay in cash (PHP or USD), card, GCash, PayPal™, WeChat Pay, or Alipay. ATMs are available inside the terminal. You will be given three (3) barcode stickers. https://www.philippineairlines.com/en/ph/home/covid-19/arrivingintheph 1

Hopefully the Philippines choose to add "proof of vaccination" as well as "negative Covid-19 result" for foreign arrivals to their country.

Snowy79 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Not Cebu related but I can see similar happening there. Puerto Galera was doing away with the RT-PCR test and had made a big song and dance about it, they had organised a lot of festivals and put time and effort into trying to attract tourists. The Governor just peed on their parade and told the Mayor to come for a meeting. Rightly the Governor has noted that if Covd takes off in Puerto Galera the burden on the hospitals affects everyone on Oriental Mindoro.
