I certainly would not recommend anyone to stay here without a visa. For a start if you were ever having to leave you need an exit clearance so you will be hit for past fees and fines for every month overstaying plus risk being blacklisted.

Then staying under the radar is not as easy as years ago. I read often they arrest fugitives staying here and also who do you trust, you break up with a GF or wife who knows or suspects you have no visa so they will dob you in.

Anyone remember the dob a foreigner campaign they had maybe 7 years back where rewards were paid?

BI LAUNCHES “SA IMMIGRATION MAGSUMBONG”
REWARD AND INCENTIVE PROGRAM
 
MANILA, Philippines – Anchored on the “Bad Guys Out,  Good Guys In” program of Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Siegfred B. Mison, the BI launched a Reward and Incentive Program granting monetary reward to any person who shall report to the BI any overstaying foreign national that will result to apprehension.
 
Under Immigration Memorandum Circular No. SBM-2014-017 signed on October 27, 2014, “Sa Immigration Magsumbong” aims to identify all temporary visitors or tourists who have stayed in the country beyond their authorized stay or commonly known as “overstaying aliens”.
 
Individuals or groups with personal and qualified information on overstaying foreign nationals may report such fact to the BI’s National Operations Center (BINOC) through text message (SMS) to the following mobile phone numbers: Globe: +63917-573-3871 ; Smart: +63908-894-6644 ; Sun: +63932-894-6644.
 
Reports containing the pertinent information must specifically be sent in the following format: SIM <space> Full Name of Foreigner <space> Complete Address <space> Name of Informant.
 
Upon sending of the message, the informant will receive a reply from the BI acknowledging receipt with a statement that such information will be verified and validated. Once validated, the informant will be advised of the results of the verification and investigation.
 
A financial incentive of Php 2,000.00 shall be given to the informant upon successful apprehension of the overstaying alien. 
 
Any information received by the BI will be treated with utmost confidentiality. (30)

Yes correct how ever as my comment said One would need to keep his mouth totally shut, meaning nothing to anyone.

I in no way endorse this plan, there are quite a few whom do it. I knew a gentleman whom had some reasonably serious health issues, lived in Valencia married and content. He was a very low key guy whom never went out much, knew he would not last 5 years and had not re renewed visa for double that period, he died a couple of years ago.

Another guy I have met, lives not far from us, he is 74 and stays in cheap pension house close by. Same situation but single, many years not renewed and content to potter on as is. No plan or dream to go anywhere. Passport also expired.

As for leaving, apart from Covid doubt it would be  to difficult to arrange boat Zambaonga Sandagan. Not sure what ones embassy in Indonesia  would do.

Quarantine not required for fully vaxxed ‘green lane’ travelers

MANILA – Arriving passengers who can avail of “green lanes” no longer need to observe a mandatory quarantine upon arrival in the Philippines, so long as they are fully vaccinated and test negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), Malacañang said on Wednesday.

This developed after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) updated the protocols for fully vaccinated individuals who are qualified for green lanes.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said new rules will take effect on Oct. 14.

In a press statement, Roque said fully vaccinated foreign nationals must yield negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test result within 72 hours before they depart from the country of origin.

“Upon arrival, no facility-based quarantine will be required but the passenger is enjoined to self-monitor for any symptoms until the 14th day,” Roque, who concurrently serves as IATF-EID spokesperson, said.

The same protocol also applies to fully vaccinated Filipinos, Roque said.

Roque said fully vaccinated Filipinos may also opt to undergo a facility-based quarantine until the release of a negative RT-PCR test taken in the quarantine facility upon arrival.

“The passenger [who is no longer required to undergo quarantine] is enjoined to self-monitor for any symptoms until the 14th day,” he said.

The IATF-EID, in its Resolution 142 approved on Oct. 7, initially directed fully vaccinated individuals from “green” countries to undergo facility-based quarantine until the release of the negative result of their RT-PCR test taken on their fifth day in the country.

The IATF-EID classified green countries or jurisdictions as “low risk” countries or jurisdictions, upon the recommendation of the Department of Health.

The task force, in its new guidelines, also shortened the quarantine period for unvaccinated individuals.

Roque said unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals, as well as those with unverified vaccination status and those vaccinated but failed to comply with the “test-before-travel requirements”, must undergo a facility-based quarantine until the release of a negative RT-PCR test taken on their fifth day in the country.

“In the case of foreign nationals, they shall be required to secure hotel reservations for at least six days,” Roque said.

Originally, they are required to undergo quarantine for seven days and spend home quarantine for another seven days.

Roque said unvaccinated or partially vaccinated minors traveling with their fully vaccinated parents or guardians are mandated to observe the quarantine protocols corresponding to their vaccination status.

“A parent/guardian shall accompany the child in the quarantine facility for the full term of the latter’s facility-based quarantine period,” he said.

Roque said overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their spouse, parents, or children going to the Philippines or abroad can present either a VaxCertPH digital certificate, an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICV) issued by the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), or World Health Organization (WHO), or the national digital certificate of the foreign government where they were vaccinated to validate their vaccination status.

He said the same requirements may be presented by non-OFWs vaccinated in the country and abroad, as well as the foreigners vaccinated in the Philippines.

For foreigners vaccinated abroad, they can present WHO-issued ICV, or the national digital certificate of the foreign government which has accepted VaxCertPH under a reciprocal agreement, Roque said. (PNA)

Thanks for that JGF, in the last couple of days we've shifted our settlement date for the sale of the house up to January. The world has shifted it's stance on quarantining for fully vaccinated people and by the time January comes around this pandemic will only be a bump in the road of our lives. Now we have to navigate the airlines and their exurbanite prices they want to charge. But I seem to think the prices will drop once the main throng of travelers have reached their destination and Christmas is over. The wife can't wait to get over there, her nephews and nieces have been breeding while this pandemic has been about. That will be the only drawback, them broke but I've got that sorted out.  Time for him to get a bit of exposure.

Immigration ops yield arrest of overstaying Chinese
PARAÑAQUE, Philippines—Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente announced the arrest of an overstaying Chinese man in an operation in Paranaque City.
According to Morente, Lu Runguo, 43, was arrested yesterday evening by operatives from the Bureau’s Intelligence Division, in coordination with the Paranaque City Police.  Lu was the subject of a warrant of deportation issued in September for staying in the country without securing and updating his visa.
BI records showed that Lu arrived in March 2019.  He stayed as a tourist but has failed to leave the country before the expiration of his visa, or file for its extension at any of the BI’s offices nationwide.
He will be temporarily held at the BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending the implementation of his deportation.

Taiwanese wanted for 17 years nabbed in Quezon—BI
REAL, Quezon—Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested a Taiwanese national wanted by authorities in Taipei for attempting to kill a compatriot 17 years ago.
In a report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) identified the alien as 53-year-old Huang Kuan-I, who was arrested Monday morning in the town proper of Real, Quezon.
The arresting agents were armed with a Warrant of Deportation from Morente who issued the same upon receiving information about Huang from Taiwanese authorities.
Huang is subject of an outstanding warrant that the Hualien prosecutor’s office in Taiwan issued against him in 2004.
“Aside from being an undesirable alien, he will also be deported for being an undocumented alien because his passport already expired in February 2019 and has not been renewed since,” said BI-FSU Acting Chief Rendel Ryan Sy.
Sy added that Huang is already overstaying as he last arrived in the country in April 2009 in an attempt to evade prosecution and sentence for his crime.
“He fled to the Philippines a year before a Taiwanese judge sentenced him to eight years in prison for attempted murder,” Sy said.
Information provided by the BI revealed that Huang was reportedly convicted for shooting and seriously wounding his victim in Hualien, Taiwan in 2004 after having a heated argument with the latter.

MANILA, Philippines — Health Secretary Francisco Duque III bared Thursday he was not consulted when the pandemic task force scrapped the facility quarantine requirement for fully vaccinated travelers from "green countries," adding it was a "cause for concern."

The task force had announced the revised protocol would take effect starting today, October 14. Foreigners complete with their COVID-19 doses would instead be required a negative RT-PCR test taken three days prior to departure from their country of origin. 
"I just want to put on record I wasn't part of that IATF [meeting] that deliberated on this yesterday because I was in another budget hearing in the Senate," Duque told ANC's Headstart.

Duque sits as chairperson of that body. He said others also not in the meeting include Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the government's chief implementer against COVID-19, as well as Secretary Eduardo Ano. 

"As far as I'm concerned, I have always supported a facility quarantine," he added. "So now that apparently the IATF went through the process and they approved this then what we can do now is to strictly monitor this change in border control policies."

The health chief said he would raise his concern once the IATF reconvenes this week. He said, too, that even President Rodrigo Duterte was not for foregoing the quarantine period requirement but only to reduce its length. 

Pressed on the science behind the IATF's decision made without him, Duque said he was told other countries are doing it but qualified that decision. 

"Those countries can afford to do it because their vaccination coverage is at 70%," he said, "whereas we are only at 30%. And now, travellers are passing through NCR, some are travelling to Davao, Cebu and other airports so that's a cause for concern."

The country's inoculation rate seven months since the efforts began is at 30.06%, translating to 23.18 million Filipinos fully vaccinated. 

Filipinos complete with their shots coming from abroad could also do the same, or could choose a facility-based quarantine until they get a negative RT-PCR test taken in the quarantine facility upon arrival.
