Forum Support Popular Post scott h Posted November 22, 2021 Forum Support Popular Post Posted November 22, 2021 This type of thing really pisses me off! If you read the headline you would think a serving US service man was arrested. US serviceman caught with P65 million drugs<<< Head line in the paper US serviceman caught with P65 million drugs | Philstar.com You have to read the story (in this paper) to find out that he was retired. The story gives his name, but if you were not familiar with Filipino names or how they can become dual citizens or that in the past Filipinos could join the US military and get their US citizenship, you would think he was a visiting or retired US service man. I had to google this scums name, find a local news report to find that he had "reacquired" his Filipino citizenship. NBI nabs 2 suspects; P65-M illegal drugs seized – Manila Bulletin (mb.com.ph) The other thing that galls me is that a week doesn't go by that a story doesn't appear about a "Filipino is a great success in America (or UK or Australia)!" but the story doesn't mention that they are 3rd generation, foreign educated don't speak Tagalog and have never visited the Philippines. Add to that, in my 33 years in the US military I found that a large majority of Filipinos who joined the US military were the most listless, lazy, unmotivated and self serving bozo's that pooped between two boots. (but thats just me) 5
Snowy79 Posted November 23, 2021 Posted November 23, 2021 I think it's similar the World over. Many times I used to get caught by the headline " Ex Serviceman." You then read the story and the guy was in the military for a couple of years twenty years ago. I suppose it makes it more sensational than calling him unemployed.

Forum Support Mike J Posted November 28, 2021 Forum Support Posted November 28, 2021 I worked for 32 years in the transportation industry. Always pissed me off to read about a fatal traffic accident involving a "truck". Ninety nine percent of the time is was a pickup truck, but the public would only read the headline. It is not at all uncommon to find heavy haul drivers who have a million miles or more without an accident.

I worked in the transport industry for almost 40 years (buses, rigid trucks and light planes). We consistently had the same issue with self drive vans being described in media reports as 'buses' (and yes... it's very annoying).
