Dave Hounddriver Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Quote Presidential aspirant and close Duterte ally Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. was the first candidate seen visiting the Chinese embassy in what appeared to be an approval-seeking courtesy call. https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/duterte-playing-both-sides Bongbong has a good shot at the presidency and seems to be interested in China. No doubt because the USA was instrumental in unseating his father.

As a US tax payer I would just as well not have any aid going to the Philippines with Marcos ruling.
Jollygoodfellow Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Very political topic but I will say the president D played his cards well. At times risked so much but it's all political and now near to the end it's time to backtrack a little for the successor to move on. Threats and using one against the other proved good but now we are all friends until think May next year.
Snowy79 Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 I can't comment on Filipino politics as we have Boris Johnson in charge in the UK. 1

One thing I admire about UK politics, is that politicians dont get paid much, they serve out of love of country obviously. I mean the Prime Minister can not even afford a comb. 2
