Thankful no immediate family were hurt. The damage to the family home was somewhat exaggerated until we got video and pictures.

The home is the three story one third on the right at beginning of the video.

The clown van and Chevrolet not a scratch on them. The bars bent were tiny aluminum ones on the sliding screens. Two windows were broken most of the roof is missing.

In Bohol the electricity was shut down in the entire province before the worst of the storm hit. A smart move- no doubt it saved some transformers and prevented lives lost due to live power lines being downed.

Looks very bad in Mactan area.  This video is from a couple who live in a resort close to JPark, where we were going next week.  Wait and see.  We will go if possible.

Don't go to Cebu City or Mactan. No water no power.

Estimated one month for power to be reinstated in the city.

Agreed.  This looks like a Typhoon Ruping or Yolanda event.  The powers that be will undoubtedly be asking tourists to stay away while they deal with infrastructure and supply chain issues.

Im fine. Had internet problems. My pictures are a bit blurry as my legs and hands were shaking after climbing down 22 flights of stairs so I could not hold the camera still. The end part of the video is across from me. I watched it blow away from the ground parking entrance where it was reasonably safe to watch from. The video to me is after the clean up started by the look of it as I was out at first light and it was worse than what that video shows.

Hopefully some lessons will have been learned as regards building construction in typhoon-prone areas, from the looks of those pictures. The rest appears to be mainly damage to vegetation.

The way power lines,  poles.and all the gubbins they hang from them are 'engineered' is a matter for debate.

What a potentially dangerous mess they are...everywhere...IMO.

I think in Cebu city's case its been 30 years since a strong typhoon so easy to forget. My area being highrise call center etc area still had a lot more damage than pictures show. I was surprised of the amount of cladding from the buildings came off when I took a closer look. Even in my condo building several aircons blew out and widows broken and a lot of roofing came off. I can see some roofs half or fully gone outside the park as well from my window.

You can see the decorative cladding off the top of this building, the square columns and the sides.
