KenM Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 I have been in the Philippines for five months as of the 4th of June. I am here in Cebu. I want to convert my CA license to the Philippines license for several reasons including that I've been here more than the 90 days to drive on my US license. I have both the motorcycle and motor vehicle endorsements from CA and want both of them here in the Philippines. Can anyone please point me towards finding accurate information on what I need to do, bring, and where to do these things? I see contradictory things on the internet and am confused. Thanks!
Popular Post Freebie Posted May 31, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2022 One of the great inconsistencies of life here is that the inconsistencies are consistent.. meaning, go to 5 LTO offices and you will get 5 different answers to your questions. Go to their offices and ask questions and somewhere you will find a friendly fellow who may help.. or maybe useless in the info he/she provides. Dont trust nor rely internet for gaining accurate information because what it says maybe inaccurate. Visit various LTOs and find out. 4
Popular Post Possum Posted May 31, 2022 Popular Post Posted May 31, 2022 Having converted a license in the last year, here is how it went for me. Was required to have a residence visa of some sort, I had a SRRV so that was covered. Went online to make an appointment. Filled out the questionnaire but the form didn't recognize the SRRV. So..off to the LTO office. Security guy saw my problem with the form and sent me to one of the LTO officers who got the form submitted. He approved my license with the same endorsements shown on my USA license. Then upstairs to get photographed and eyes examined. Licensed was issued about 30 minutes later. Total time less than 2 hours. 6
skippyscage Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 You'll usually have to take an exam etc to get a new license as the conversion process is only valid for 90 days. Less than 90 days and they'll do a straight conversion with not tests. YMMV
