College Fortran class in 1969 or maybe 1970. If memory serves me correctly the college had an IBM 360. Create a flow chart. Punch cards. Turn in the deck. Get results next day on lined computer paper with your deck. Find error(s), punch new card(s), return deck. Get results next day. Repeat until it runs correctly. A tedious and pain filled process but it felt wonderful when it filled ran correctly.

We had to learn Fortran in high school computing in the 80's, but by then our results were instant That was after we had got our heads around BASIC.
