The last set have tie beems at the footing level. All beems are tied at the ground level to keep them from walking in an earthquake. The soil is limestone and required a jackhammer to get to 1.2m. Could the house go down the hill? Yes anything is possible but the amount of earth that would have to move to do that is beyond anything that could be built to stop it.

Great location! That hill reminds me of one I fell down in Palos Verdes, California, when I was drunk, at about age 21!

Popular Post gbmmbg Posted August 21, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted August 21, 2023 I was laughing so hard today i almost pee'ed myself. We are doing the as built plans to get the occupancy permit and the new blueprints have the rooms listed, master, 2nd,3rd and cats room. The assistant of the engineer was out taking pic's of the house and asked how old our daughter was and if she was scared to stay downstairs by herself? I was so confused, I told him our daughter was 34 and lives in Seattle. He responded, I'm so sorry sir I assumed cat was short for Catherine. Nope cat room is just that a room for the cats, my wife had me build a bridge from the room to the bahay kubo because they like to go out side. He asked if it was ok to show the photos back at the office because no one would believe him....... 20230805_103651.mp4 5

One of our dogs has hip dysplasia so we're thinking about building him a ramp to the upstairs
Popular Post Huggybearman Posted August 21, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 21, 2023 I love the idea of your cat room in a bahay kubo. However, I hope the netting is steel mesh. If your cats are anything like ours (we have five indoors and seven outdoor cats), within a few hours they will have formed an escape committee and started digging ‘Tom’, ‘Dick’ and ‘Harry’!

Yes steel mesh is a must. We have 22 cats at this time and the biggest one gecko will open doors, windows. He is a handful.
