Possum Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 A few years ago Duterte got mad about people parking in the street and cracked down on the owners. Told them to start ticketing and/or towing cars parked in the right lane of the road. Things were great for about a month. Travel was much easier because 4 lane roads went back to being 4 lanes, of course this didn't last long. Now no tickets written and the normal mayhem continues. My wife suggested to the city council that they write tickets, collect the fines and use the money to help pay for a multilevel paid parking . Steel deck parking is not that expensive to build and the city has the land to build it on. They said, yes that would be a good business for someone.

Where is one to park when shopping, when there is no parking slots?

That's why we started going to City Mall, rooftop parking barely used. Only went to Robinson's or Hypermart if we absolutely had to.
Guy F. Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Heard that it's possible to get a fake wheel clamp, so as to make it appear that your car has already been clamped. Anyone know about this?

Maybe waiting for the concrete to cure!

Yeah, the jeep area is open, but not the car park itself. We actually started shopping a lot more in Lee Plaza as well, the new multi storey car park one street back from Chin Loong is handy. 20PHP per hour.

Kingpin Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) Quote Prospective car buyers would need to show proof that they have adequate garage or parking space before they will be allowed to buy one. This is the conditon that Rep. Lord Allan Velasco wants to institutionalize under House Bill (HB) No. 31. The bill, or the proposed “No Garage, No Registration Act,” aims to “lessen traffic congestion, curb the number of private vehicles, provide safe and uncluttered pathways, where people may freely walk to their destinations, and maintain a clean and healthy environment by clearing the streets of parked motor vehicles and other similar clutter that reduce the space intended for human and vehicular traffic”. Under the bill, persons with residential and business address in metropolitan areas who intend to buy a motor vehicle must execute a notarized affidavit as proof that they have a parking facility for that motor vehicle. The bill listed Metro Manila, Angeles, Bacolod, Baguio, Batangas, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dagupan, Davao, Iloilo, Naga, and Olongapo as “metropolitan areas”, although the provision will not be limited to these areas. https://mb.com.ph/2022/08/02/velasco-bill-no-garage-no-new-car/ Mod Note: Merged into existing topic Edited August 11, 2022 by Dave Hounddriver

All of the malls that I've been to in CDO (and I've been to all of the bigger ones) have dedicated parking areas, the ones in the CBD are multi storey and the ones on the edge of the city are outdoor but they ALL have them. That's all well and fine, but I'm talking about small stores and banks etc on the highway No where to park a car, the bikes or in the parking slots.
