Dave Hounddriver Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Do we all know that Amazon's recent business model allows anyone to market their own products under the Amazon umbrella? Perhaps they learned it from Alibaba. Walmart is now doing the same with their online store. It means it is entirely possible that your free shipping products are coming from an affiliate in China and they are simply cutting out the journey to the USA. Google "How to be an Amazon seller" if you need more info.

Google "How to be an Amazon seller" if you need more info. I don't think that is a recent change. It has always been like that. I have noticed changes over the years. Many years ago, I think Amazon had more sellers that were just using Amazon as their e-commerce platform and the products shipped from the customer's warehouse. Now, most sellers use Amazon for their warehousing and shipping too. Far more efficient and cheaper for the customer to pay Amazon to take care of all of that. Amazon can negotiate really cheap shipping rates and they run the most efficient warehouses in the world for storing, packing and shipping. In my former life in the express shipping industry, Amazon was our largest customer for many years. I visited the Reno fulfillment center in either the late 90's or early 2000's. Back when I visited, I think they had 7 U.S. fulfillment centers. Now they have 110 in the U.S and 185 worldwide. That warehouse operation was impressive then. I can only imagine the technology they have now. Amazon is quite a story as they have established world dominance. It is no coincidence that Jeff Bezos looks like Dr. Evil. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_(company) I have a lot of Amazon orders in the last 4 months. They all arrived at shipping cart in California in 1-2 days 99% of the time. Not possible that they were shipped from China. And you can track the progress of the packages and you know the carrier. If something were shipped directly to you from China, you would know it. I have been using Amazon for 20 years and nothing ever shipped directly from China. There maybe be orders that start in China and they hide that part. For instance, if you order something and it says it will ship in 10 days, the overseas factory may deliver it to the U.S. warehouse in 7 days, and then it is actually shipped from there to final customer. I think that would be very rare because people don't order things that will not ship immediately, unless they have no other options. Like on Lazada, where you know it will ship from China and take longer.

Personally, I have no issue with Lazada other than their delivery fees. When I order I know pretty much what to expect based on the price. When you see a "name brand product" for 10% of the real cost you really cannot complain when it's fake. I've never experienced an issue with items purchased, but I read the details and don't just look at the pic - they can be misleading. (Actually I have been conned once when I bought a plant pot which I thought was a pack of 5 based on the pic - if I'd read the info I'd have been able to work out it wasn't - lesson learned!) P.S. I know your post was in jest Youngster. I think you are correct in most cases. I'm currently going through a return process through Lazada, and it is a painful process. Initial return request with pics and explanation was instantly denied. but subsequent second request was accepted without adding any new information. Now it's just a waiting game. I don't order fake name brand items on Lazada, but I do get a bit nervous ordering pricey name brand items due to concern of it being fake. The three name brand items I've just ordered from Amazon so far have been cheaper than Lazada, especially that I'm not paying sales tax which in my case is 8.375%. To those interested, items I've ordered from Amazon on Sept. 30, arrived in PI on October 5, and delivered on October 9. Not bad.

The way they did it was show a total shipping of 38 and deduct 28 for the free shipping items, so I paid 10 for shipping the dog collars. Well worth it. Can't find Martingale dog collars here except on Lazada where they are ridiculously priced.

I was just thinking (must be the coffee) and wondering, will we see a jump in stuff on Shopee that was bought on Amazon and then resold? With free shipping, seems viable. OnMyWay Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Amazon and Ninja Van continue to deliver excellent service. I ordered three free shipping items on the 7th and they were delivered today, the 14th. That is the quickest yet. Previously it was 8-9 days.

Ordered some really nice oil paints and made sure they were over the threshold. A lot slower when shipped here to Moalboal. But free is a great price and I am not complaining.

One difference between Amazon and iHerb is that sometimes Amazon doesn't send out the free'shipping orders immediately. I've waited a week, two weeks, and one order was delayed a month, at which time they asked me if I wanted to cancel. Of course iHerb only sells nutritional items so depending on the order it may not even matter.
