Colsie Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I guess we are all keeping an eye out for any bad weather that might impact our location. We all probably check the Windy app as it's been very useful for spotting an upcoming storm or dreaded typhoons... The topic of this post is to flag potential typhoons as soon as possible so that forum members can be aware and observe in the upcoming days. With this in mind, this weekend it looks as though northern luzon will get a storm and heavy rains this weekend. The following weekend it looks as though a storm is going to come through central Visayas. The intensity of which is difficult to assess this far out... Never heard of it, will check it out. 2 massive storms in two days here, pressure isn't particularly low yet though, hopefully it stays that way.

I'm a faithful Windy.com user. I don't see much of anything coming in the next week.

I'm in Eastern Samar and the Windy.com android app is showing something developing in the next 10 days... The forecast isn't accurate being 10days away, but as an early alert its worth keeping an eye on it over the next few days
Colsie Posted October 20, 2022 Author Posted October 20, 2022 (edited) Probability of this weather event turning into a significant typhoon has increased. Tempted to buy some 3/4" plywood to board up my windows and some other materials for repair... Edited October 20, 2022 by Colsie
Colsie Posted October 27, 2022 Author Posted October 27, 2022 (edited) So here we are, 9 days on from when this storm was first flagged. The weather forecast models are now much more accurate and looks as though we've escaped the brunt of the typhoon here in Eastern Visayas. But as you say it pays to be alert. Learned that lesson the hard way when I had to ride out the super typhoon here in Moalboal last December. On a positive note, our new longspan roof with steel rafters looks very nice.

Typhoons need warm air, from what I have observed these tropical storms come across the Philippines from October maybe early on. Now winter is around the corner, Japan is getting colder and these typhoons seek our Humid conditions.
