I have not but it sounds interesting.  I think I would start with something familiar like cucumbers, but I am sort of conservative by nature.

Has anyone had a similar problem as us finding cheese?

We were very accustomed to buying the wonderful Bega cheeses from Australia... and now they have disappeared off the shelves of the regular grocery stores here in Davao, like NCCC, SM and G-Mall...

Have you tried the Swiss Deli or S&R? I was in S&R in Dau recently and they had a decent selection of cheese. I bought a brick of imported sharp cheddar (imported from the USA) and I seem to recall they also sold the Bega brand slices.

I'm partial to a cheese and cracker but not enough to pay crazy prices.  Our SM City is hopeless for anything that is not in mass demand but our Robinson supermarket usually has a couple of options and our All Day grocery store always has a selection if you're not too picky - a little pricey though.

The processed slices vary in quality from absolute garbage to just about edible but my wife continues to persevere !

Yes. both have good cheeses usually. I don't go to S & R often - far away and city traffic to get there. It is actually right across the street from Swiss Deli. The latter has good cheeses, but last time there, there were true deli type cheeses, not regular cheddar - and they were expensive! SM used to carry a good selection of the Bega cheeses, but have not been there for a while.

The Joseph Farms at S&R is still a good value and better quality than the American Heritage I get here.  Royal Duty Free has some other cheeses in the deli, but expensive.  That 1 lb block of Joseph Farms is p399.

That’s the one I bought. Couldn’t recall the name. Made a few ham n cheese sandwiches and some homemade Mac n Cheese with it. Although I prefer one with a bit sharper flavor, this brand was certainly good and I’ll buy it again.

Sadly, the last few times I visited the S & R in Davao, the only Joseph Farms and others were only medium cheddar. We like it sharp with more flavour... I don't recall seeing many others, but then I may have missed them on the shelf...

I've always been able to find excellent cheeses of all varieties imported to the Phils from Europe.
