"Kano" means American right?

Yes and no, lol. Slang from the word “Amerikano”; It’s derived from the Spanish word “Americano”. Technically it does refer to American men (Kana for females), but Filipino’s often use the word Kano to describe any one with white skin regardless of what country they’re from.

Glad they got him!

For now.  But will they hold onto him?

I expect a lot will depend on how much money he has.   Hopefully he gets deported and blacklisted.

Must disagree here, more fitting would be to leave him in the detention center, read a few not pleasant topics about conditions there.

I could be wrong, but I believe that if he gets convicted on the assault charge (or any other criminal charge they cook up) he will serve his time in jail before being deported and blacklisted. One thing I do know is that the wheels of justice here turn very very slowly. He’s liable to spend a few years in the Cebu detention facility just waiting for a trial / verdict. And you’re right, the conditions there are, to say the least, not very pleasant. I know first hand as I used to visit and help out someone who was falsely accused of something.

Even if he beats the assault charge, or settles with the victim and she drops the charges, he’ll likely get deported as it’s been widely reported that he’s been an overstayer for many years. OTH, if he has the financial resources (which seem unlikely) he might be able to just pay the fines for overstaying. I don’t know how that works.

He has no money, involved in scams and begging at times.

He did a live from BI detention in Cebu, admitted he's an over stayer.  He is again asking for money.

I wonder if Drew Frederick Shobbrook is still in there.  Maybe they can be friends.
