Japan dropped all remaining COVID-related entry requirements (including the need of COVID testing/vaccination certificates) on April 29, 2023, nine days earlier than originally announced. With this, over three years of COVID-related border measures have come to an end.

Inside Japan, there are no restrictions on the activities of businesses and individuals; however, the wearing of masks remains common.

Just returned from Japan & taking girlfriend for a holiday. Masks on everywhere except a lot of young adults not wearing. Was great for a cool change.

SJ---in your travels in Japan did you see any Covid testing sites perhaps at Narita?

The wife and I are partially vaccinated (no booster) and are thinking about going to Japan in Oct. We will require a Covid test to return to the PI but am concerned about where to get this done 24 hours before departure.

Sorry we didn’t go through Narita this time but coming outa Kansai (Osaka) I saw a testing station but like every bloody thing, was closed after 5pm. I’m sure a much bigger airport like Narita will have one @Lee

https://jp.usembassy.gov/services/pcr-testing-facilities-in-japan/  I looked on this site & hopefully it should be able to help in some way. Good luck

The Visa for my girlfriend was surprisingly easy to obtain, so might take her again in their winter.
