If I feel a sugar in the 70's and 80's it feels low now and makes me a touch weak. Use to be anything above 70 did nothing to affect me. I could "feel it" but it didn't affect me negatively in any way. It really comes down to your age, and what the doctor decides. Try and find a good endocrinologist. Probably need to stay in a big city to find one at all here in the Phils. Where I live there is only a doctor of internal medicine that locally passes as the doctor for diabetics. I stills stay in touch with my diabetic nurse and endocrinologist via calls on magic jack but only about once every couple years. Report my sugar levels and diet and am able to use their suggestions to keep things working good. Thanks for the feedback on my query, I would go to a doctor if I could find one here in the province. AS I have been warned about seeking any medical advise here as they will be seeing their retirement coming sooner than expected.

Maybe it's due to living in a reasonably-sized city but in the 8 years I have been here I have not found it to be the case - in fact often quite the opposite in that I've been lucky enough to find more conservative doctors who are not looking to over-prescribe drugs or suggest not really necessary surgery. I think it's like finding a good contractor - sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't but based on my experience there are more good than bad - we always hear about the horror stories though so the view tends to be skewed.

Same here, even though I live in the province. Several years back I came down with amebic dysentery and became badly dehydrated. The doctor, a lady, was just so kind showed such concern when seeing me. She sat beside me with a pillow on her lap, cradling my arm, while she gave me an IV. While doing that she explained how I was living in a hot and humid country and needed to keep myself hydrated. I much preferred the doctor's patient explanation and concern over the SCOLDING I GOT FROM MY WIFE.

I drink 4 liters of water a day and in the evening I drink a re hydration drink, just in case.

They all gave good advice, just that none of them were the same diagnosis and treatment. I have never found a doctor in the Philippines who says: "I just don't know". Your mileage may vary and if you only see one doctor you will never have this problem.

Kingpin Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 7.1% of the Philippines population has diabetes. Meaning half the countries in the world, including Canada at 7.7% and the US at 10.7%, have a bigger diabetes problem than the Philippines. https://diabetesatlas.org/data/en/indicators/2/
