I would not be surprised either   My wife is working in Canada as a Health Care Assistant and makes good money bathing all the old farts.  Hope you appreciate a helper who will do that for you.

Hawaiians go crazy over Spam Musubi which consists of fried Spam, rice and a seaweed wrapper (delicious).   This is what kids take to school as a snack rather than an apple or peanut butter sandwich.  Hormel Food Company has a secret warehouse on the island of Oahu with an emergency supply.  The reason is Hawaii ran out once due to a dock strike.  Locals are in awe and bow low when my wife and I inform them we have been to the Spam Museum located in the Mid-West.  (Joke only about the bows, but we did tour the museum and my wife took pictures.)  There's even a cookbook with all kinds of recipes.

Maybe the secret warehouse was constructed following the Spam emergency of 2013.

Honolulu, Hawaii – A visit to Hawaii is never complete without having a snack or meal of spam sushi. This Japanese cuisine-inspired delicacy is a mainstay in local restaurant menus as well as in the refrigerated sections of every ABC Store.

In the last week, however, spam sushi has all but disappeared in Waikiki and elsewhere in the Hawaiian islands. Even McDonald’s has run out of its spam inventory and scrapped the island breakfast combo of eggs, spam and rice from its menu board.

Investigation conducted by local authorities revealed that there has been some hoarding going on, instigated by a particular group of Hawaii visitors.  Pressed by The Adobo Chronicles to identify the “hoarders,” one local official – on condition of anonymity – said: “secret service agents and journalists” accompaning President Barack Obama who is currently vacationing in Hawaii with the first family and first dog, Bo.

Officials are also investigating reports that the shortage is further aggravated by Filipinos going home for the holidays with balikbayan boxes loaded with cans of spam purchased from Costco and other warehouse stores in the islands.

Local merchants have sent urgent messages to Hormel Foods, makers of spam, to airlift several thousand cases of canned spam from its Minnesota headquarters to Hawaii.

In the UK, Spam is considered poor man's food.  There was even a Monty Python sketch about it. I'll admit I hated it when we got spam, beans and chips on a Thursday for dinner (Friday was pay day so probably money was tight). I quite like it now - even if it's cooked!

A case of spam helped sell my old Corolla before we left Hawaii. It's like gold bricks, at Walmart in Oahu, each can of spam gets it's own locked plastic case on the shelf to stop the shoplifting.

I don't mind spam every once in a while but the family really don't like it so I don't get to eat it much.

Fried spam sandwich with mustard.   Fried, diced, and mixed with scrambled eggs.

Many years ago one of my close Filipino friends got a new helper who was recommended by a family member. Fortunately I was visiting the afternoon she arrived.

She was late 30's dressed modestly in a uniform of back pants white blouse they did not hide the fact she was HOT. The cook had her serve us snacks and drinks. My friend asked her a few work related questions and I made a few kind remarks. The next week my buddy invited me over to his place once more and the helper was not there. I asked about her he said when his wife came home and fired the helper! LOL The helper had asked the cook about me and where I lived. Thankful my wife never knew about that or I'd end up like Mike did last week!
