But just de-boarding the aircraft (which was supposedly secure) everyone had to queue up and go through x-ray carry-on checks and walk through the metal detector before permitted access to the airport proper even just to sit and wait for the connecting flight. Anything odd resulted in body scan with metal detector wand. I used to go thru Narita a lot and at least the line kept moving. Seoul airport also does that and the line can be very long and slow. They check your passport 3 times and inspect your carry-on. I prefer the security theater at Narita over Seoul. But the security theater at NAIA is just ignorance. Sometimes I wonder if there is a unwritten mandate to maintain a dysfunctional third world status.
justdavid Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 I’m glad you had a nice vacation and arrived safely at NAIA Terminal 3. I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through a long and tedious security check. It must have been frustrating and exhausting. The new arrival procedure at NAIA Terminal 3 is part of the heightened security measures implemented by the CAAP and MIAA after a series of security threats. The purpose is to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and personnel at the airport1. The e-Travel program is an online system that allows travelers to submit their travel information and documents electronically before their departure or arrival. It aims to facilitate faster and smoother immigration clearance and reduce physical contact3. You can enroll in the e-Travel program through this website. Freebie Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 China has the same checks where both checked baggage and hand carry go through xray machines on arrival . Havent seen it happen in NAIA 3 though, came back just last week.

Pretty sure it is someone playing around with (or imitating) AI. Wasn't there another poster called out for this last week?

Youngster Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Must have been a temporary heightened security procedure. I came back from an overseas trip on Oct 21 and walked right out with my checked bags, bypassing X-ray machine. But I can understand the frustration of added security of bags being x-rayed, considering terminal 3 baggage claim can get overcrowded due to it being used for both international and domestic flights.

They are not requiring checked bags to be screened. It's the carry on items that are being required to be placed in the xray machine on arrival.
