Possum Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 Regarding tourists and others in foreign countries I decided long ago that some peoples' manners are geographically located within a certain distance from their home town. Once they get beyond that distance their manners disappear. A friend of mine that worked for many years in the cruise ship business told me once that before people get on the ship there are two invisible buckets they pass before boarding. They are labeled 'brains' and 'behavior' some choose to deposit into one or both before boarding. I think those invisible buckets must exist in airports also.

I'll hold my hand up and admit that I have a tendency to leave my brains in one of those buckets when I go on vacation - it's like my brain decides to take a vacation along with the rest of me! However, I don't think I make much use of the other bucket.
Popular Post Freebie Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 Was in the airport in Saigon a while back waiting for the visa processing. Along with about 100 others. 99 of us were just milling around , looking at the staff working and hoping it was our passport they were processing. One fellow who had been on my flight was clearly impatient and clearly didnt give a hoot who knew it. Banged on window, gesticulating to his watch and cursing the vietnamese. After a few minutes of this , one of the staff came out and told him to button it. 5 minutes later hes still cursing the viets calling them the most useless race in the world etc. Another guy came out and told him again to button it. This sweet guy didnt know how to button it. 5 minutes later, more abuse at the vietnamese staff . A few of them looked at each other, short discussion, then 4 of them marched out. Grabbed him by the arms, took him through a side door and he was never seen again. I suspect deported and blacklisted. 3
Forum Support Popular Post Mike J Posted November 11, 2023 Forum Support Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 (edited) Read an article awhile back about a rude passenger. He was giving the "Do you know who I am" line to the lady behind the counter. She finally had enough and picked up the overhead microphone. "Does anyone here know or recognize this man at the counter? He keeps asking me if I know who he is".
