OnMyWay Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Looking for advice. Went to my BPI branch ATM at 2235. Tried 20k on one machine. Didn't work, error. Tried 10k on next machine. Didn't work. This is my BPI debit Mastercard. Got home and had e-mail alerts saying both were successful. Checked BPI online and they have been deducted. They were actually have Christmas party inside branch while I was there. I know the manager and have texted him. Called the Manila # and finally got through option 5. He it should be option 1. Tried that and it asked for 11 digit access code and pin. I have no idea what an 11 digit access code it. Any experiences to share?
Viking Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 Did you get a message from the ATM that it was an error or was the error that you didn't receive any bills? If it was an error message, it's strange if the amount has been deducted from your account. If the error was that you didn't receive any bills, I guess someone installed a device that kept the bills inside the machines. When you left, that person collected the jackpots.
Joey G Posted December 22, 2023 Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) see if this works: Enter 11-digit access number: BPI ATM cardholders, this is the ten-digit ATM card number plus the first digit of the two numbers at the lower right corner of your ATM card. Obviously report it ASAP, and be sure you have the ATM serial number date, time, etc... and get the name of the person you talk to. This has happened to me before---here and in the US. If you watch your account activity over the next few days you might note, as I did, the initial withdrawal being deducted (pending) and later a correction being made. Hope so anyway.

It has already been reversed! I was worried. We are leaving for a one week vacation today and I didn't need the extra stress! Thanks for the inputs!

I find the Euro ATM to be the worst. Advise do not use BDO with BPI card, I once lost P40 this way, two attempts at P20k, took about 6 weeks to finally have it reversed, mostly just stick to BPI ATM unless urgent.
JJReyes Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 We dined in a Makati restaurant that had trouble processing my credit card. Checking my digital bank statement, there were three identical charges for the same amount. Rather than spending time contacting the bank, I decided to wait because the three transactions were listed as "Pending." The bank's AI realized the error and made the correction.

I mostly use BDO ATM for both Metrobank and BPI and, touch wood, have never had any problems like this. Unfortunately, both Metrobank and BPI machines are like hen's teeth and have L O N G lines where they do exist. Interestingly, I cannot withdraw P20k from any BDO machine for BPI card in a day, max 10k per day and even then it has to be 2x5k transactions - perhaps this is in response to issues with cash not being dispensed to minimise 'losses.' I have noticed that whilst my Metrobank card works swimmingly at BDO, the BPI not so much.
gbmmbg Posted December 23, 2023 Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) Around 10 years ago my wife and I along with a group of friends were at a casino in the states. My wifes friend stopped to pull some money out of the atm/change maker. I happened to be looking that way and saw the machine spit the money out and take it back. It spit out the receipt with a -500 withdrawal. My wife's friend asked me what she should do. I told her to report it to the security, so i went with her to explain. The person at the counter looked at us with the " ya, right it took the money back" look on their face. But low and behold when they finally checked the CCTV footage it showed it doing just that. She got her 500 us back and we all got comped a good stake dinner. not a bad ending. Edited December 23, 2023 by gbmmbg typo
