Possum Posted April 18 Posted April 18 I clean ours as needed. A while back started using the cheap paper filters on top of the factory filters. The paper ones are finer than the factory supplied ones. When they get dirty we change them, interval varies depending on the room and usage. They make a difference and even the service guy said it was good to use those. We also use a washable filter on top of the unit where the air comes in to pre-clean. Still have the units cleaned about every 9 months when we notice the temperature not maintaining or the KW going up a little. Fan motor sounds like a loose connection or some other issue that should be covered under warranty. If they come to check Be SURE they show the unit is properly grounded. 90% I've seen are not

If I were you I'd do that first before you get another contractor to look at it - firstly, it will save you money and more importantly any work carried out by a 3rd party contractor will almost certainly null and void any warranty. Clermont Posted April 20 Posted April 20 We clean ours every six months, full clean because of the continuous building in our area. One we’ve had for nine years the other three, 2 years, Kolin brand and never missed a beat.

We had an issue with both (screen brightness on Netflix when watching DV) but found a fix for it last night coincidentally. To be fair, our Sony had the exact same issue. Like the LGs and Samsungs in the past, the image - no pun intended - of cheaper Asian brands will improve over time. And no, it doesn't cool the room, Jim.

OnMyWay Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 We took a turn at a fork in the road. Our two small bedrooms will be our kid's rooms. About 10 X 12 feet. They both had old Teco split units and the indoor units were space hogs in the room. They interfered with the layout we wanted. So we are yanking the splits and going with small window types. We shopped around for a few days and saw a new (to me) brand being pushed at some outlets; Tosot. I found some reviews and they are well rated. I think they are owned by Gree and of course built in China. .8 HP, inverter, remote control, wifi with phone app, high EER, supposedly very quiet. Paid less than 16k per unit.
