All having a degree means is you have a piece of paper saying you can rote memorise and retain for a time whatever lecturers/texts are telling you and regurgitate it in a coherent (mostly) form.  Undergraduate and some coursework masters' that is.

I agree.  I stuck with accounting as a major.  Accounting always makes sense until the government gets involved trying to tell us that the inflation rate is 3.9%.  That math just does not work. haha

Rather than saying "jeepneys are dangerous, get rid of them", they should establish the safety/environmental standards required for a vehicle and let the market dictate the design/demand.  Almost begs a question... what is the definition of a jeepney?  The way it looks?  Considering the conversion of original jeepney's from "Army jeeps", I am confident there are enough innovative mechanics who conform them to meet most any safety/environmental standard a regular vehicle has to meet.  If the complaint is they are a cause of increase traffic jams... does anyone think getting rid of them would somehow miraculously improve the flow of traffic and "problem solved".

I think the whole get rid of jeepney thing is driven by bigger business trying grab a niche of market that's susceptible to be pushed out.  I wouldn't be surprised  if sometime soon convenience stores chains start trying close sari-sari stores because they aren't adhering to food and safety standards.

The environmental/safety standards have been around for a long time but somehow these smoke spewing, headlight less, faulty brake things with slick tires keep passing inspection and carrying passengers. You'd almost think the LTO was corrupt and the traffic enforcers, HPG etc were blind.

Nothing will be done this year to enforce anything the national government says because local elections are coming up.  Therefore these national treasures will be around for much longer.

Agree.

No Filipino political endeavor to improve the life of a Filipino citizen has ever done so.
