The Family Code of the Philippines does not recognize common law marriage per se but acknowledges the rights of individuals in a live-in relationship, especially concerning property acquired during the partnership. I just got a message from somebody whose wife, ( married to an English guy ) with land and houses in her name with a 25k income per year, was refused and sent me the letter of refusal. Seems even with all that the UK government didnt trust her to not over stay. Perhaps because they don't meet the minimum income requirement of 29K per annum? They fell at the 1st hurdle. Thanks for your messages. Yes it seems so, but this is a Filipino income, which is above a norm I would imagine, this is generated from a business she/they have here, so I would have thought that was something you would not want to neglect. The reason given was they were afraid she might not go back to the Phils? The partners income - the UK husband, i get being assessed like that. Yes, that is what I understand. Australia uses them. My wife and step-daughter had to go to their Makati office for Australia biometrics. No major issues. They have an appointment system. They might have other offices for different countries.

You are not understanding what VFS is. They are a BPO, Business Process Outsourcing. They are not an "agency". I did not have a choice to use them. It was mandatory. A "visa agency" like you are referring to is a company the helps people apply various types of visa, for a hefty fee usually. I have never used one. Actually, I have U.S. visas pending for my wife and step daughter. I do it myself. No agent involved.

I don't understand if I have to apply to the UK embassy first or to VFS? Is there a difference? A business that charges a fee dependent upon what service you use? According to their website. Yes, Im just finding out that others have had to use their services when applying to an Embassy, was that what happened to yourself?

Yes, the Australian Embassy directed us to VFS.
