Ok guys thanks

My second time to Philippines as a old man, tommrrw Sunday

This time I'm taking a Thai lady with me.

Last time I had a awful time with taxi drivers at the airport so plan to book a car ,is that your recommendation?

I want to explore Manila with the Thai lady ,can you recommend a tour guide for a day ?

Can you recommend a area to stay ,I'm thinking Makati ,

Makati is a safe upscale area not too far from the airport. The malls are nice many restaurants at all budgets and a park like areas to walk around.

Makati Hotel Celeste its nice quiet and modestly priced ~2500 Peso. It's across the street from Greenbelt lll mall complex.

The Peninsula Manila is our favorite. It's upscale safe and very comfortable. Peninsula has several fine restaurants in the hotel and its next to the malls as well. They have an afternoon tea that's fun too.

Manila airport taxi cabs are notorious for their games. I would recommend have your hotel shuttle or car pick you up.

Download and setup the Grab app on your smart phone before you go. Grab is like Uber. Much nicer than taxis and safer. I have had a Manila taxi with a fake meter, fortunately I noticed quickly and corrected the problem. Had another taxi ignore my directions and instead drop us at some nasty hotel which I assumed he would get some kickback from.

Use grab, the are allowed to pickup at the airport.

Yes I have Grab here holidaying in Bangkok

Last time I was in Manila 2022 I got off at the airport one rainy sunday night

I tried to order Grab but seems too busy

I walked out into the street near McDonald's, confronted by aggressive taxi drivers who I paid 1500 pesos to the Belmont hotel which took 20 minutes drive

On finding out later , the Belmont hotel I could of walked from the airport in 5 minutes,it's connected to the airport!!🤣

The MTR rail is available to explore the city would be cheaper than a guide. Also there are various tours in and around Manila.

35K Peso for four days excluding hotel is very doable depending on your needs.

Yep, it can happen anywhere - it's difficult to imagine a trike ride that costs 550php unless you have a very well-padded ass!
