I'm here visiting Manila for a few days from Australia, I live the cities mostly

So I have been exploring Manila mrt trains etc

I hardly saw any caucasian foreigners or as in Thailand they say farang

I know Manila may not be the best retirement location, may I ask if anyone is retired in Manila or chose Manila as a retirement?

I can't work out there transport system unfortunately,I guess if I stated here I could but it's not easy like in Bangkok

The cost would be high to retire unless you rent say here where in staying in Makati .

I have been retired and living in Paranaque (southern Manila) for 12 years now. Foreigners for the most part are pretty thin on the ground. Unlike Mexico (for American retirees) and Spain or Portugal (for English and European retirees I believe) there are no real retirement "colonies" here in the Philippines. Most of us seem to retire at or near where our wives are from.

Here in Manila you will see more foreigners around Makati and Alabang which are where most foreign businesses have headquarters. Another place nowadays are the casinos, I see a lot of professional international poker players but they usually just fly in for a week or so and stick pretty close to the casinos.

In my travels of all over Luzon.... Manila is where I've encountered most caucasians or other foreigners.

If not for most of my family living in Nueva Ecija....I am very content when I stay in Manila and could easily and happily live there.

I see Dumaguete...(DramaGuete)..actually seems to be the "colony" if you will.

Seems to be the "colony" deposit of many broke, disabled, E-Begging, skid row type Kanos, Aussies & others etc.

I was thinking the same. There is a place south of manila in the Laguna area where I have seen a few retiree's as well.

But not like down in Baja, where there are sub divisions  almost exclusively retired yanks....

I'm retired with my Pinoy wife and living in Manila, in BGC. We've been here going on two years and loving it. We see a LOT of foreigners here in BGC and Makati.

Angeles City as well. The apartment complex I’m in (about 25 units) is almost exclusively foreigners; mix of mostly Americans and Australians plus a couple of Brits and a Japanese fellow. In general though not as many white guys as before the pandemic. Koreans are slowly taking over. Many are tourists, but quite a few live here year round and operate many of the businesses.

I was in BGC today very nice ...but if you don't have your own car ,you have to use Grab I guess

There's no public transport options

I went to Tondo today ,got the train from Esda to Abad San ,then got a trike to Tondo

No problem there ,no one bothered me ,in fact some didn't even look at me twice

I found a dentist among the rubble ,700 pesos for a filling .he advised me though not to come after dark 😅

While attending a retirement destination conference in Makati, a presenter mentioned Germans are the predominant group in Dumaguete.  They number over 2,000.  Most rely on the 3 years visitor visa extension, so the government data does not reflect the correct number.  In Iloilo, there are several care facilities for Germans with Alzheimer.
