This made me remember something sort of funny (but not at the time).  We had just moved into our house here on the ocean.  I was in the yard and heard a commotion out in the water.  About 40-45- yards off shore a swimmer was struggling to stay up, splashing the water, going under, etc.  I was in a panic because I am a very poor swimmer and knew I could not save him.  It was then I realized he was an excellent swimmer and slapping the water with his arms, going under to grab rocks and throw them etc.  He was scaring fish into his net.

Almost as bad. I was staggering along main beach on Boracay in my drinking days, it was about 1am and as I approached a quiet area near Station 3 I heard screaming coming from the sea.

The tide was a decent way out and as I walked to the water's edge I could just make out someone splashing in the sea about 50m out and the waves were breaking. I ran into the sea and swam out to where the person was and it turned out to be a girl about 20 yrs old. As I grabbed her to swim back I felt my feet hit the sea bed. I stood up and the water was just above my belly button. She was still kicking and screaming so I dragged her ashore where she collapsed on the beach in shock.

It turned out she had went for a swim and was panicking as the waves were breaking and she couldn't swim against them, all she had to do was stand up. I honestly think she would have drowned without realising how shallow the water was.
