I have my little workshop at the back (pictured) wherein I can 'potter'...as old retirees often do. The word "tranquility" comes to mind when I look at the pictures of your place. RDavies Posted July 30 Posted July 30 This post is very timely with what I have just been considering with our main block. Currently we see nothing but trees (Mango, banana and coconut mainly) from where our house site will be, but we were worried about someone building something big and ghastly nearby and clearing all the trees behind our block, so my wife wants to buy up some more land bordering ours. We will likely not develop the land for quite a while, but will plant a few more different fruit trees and keep the land as a buffer zone so we dont end up in a similar situation to the OP. When we do decide to move, we can subdivide and split off the extra parcel of land which is currently priced very well.

Instead of leaving, even a few trees, they completely clear every tree, bush, weed etc... and you end up with exactly what you describe above. We are in the process of looking for a place to live, and one of our criteria is "Trees". Given you have 1k sqm of exactly what we are looking for, we are currently discussing squatting somewhere on your land (sometimes the music is loud, but no karaoke, and we do clean up after ourselves) Maybe you could make a trike body workshop there to give yourself something to do when you cant sleep at night? I would have bought lots of the land around our home... But I did not have it so here we are. I think yours is a wise idea.
Onemore52 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 We bought a property on a river outside of the city. The problems with the purchase of the property have been the subject of a few posts on here so I will not bore anyone with the information again. The property is on the river and had views of the tropical forest across the river, quiet and peaceful. Then a ex politician bought the land and now the people came with their dogs and loud music bellowing all night long. Paradise is gone forever. 2

graham59 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 They'll have a problem building on the creek to one side of us. No access other than for Carabao at the back, and there is a rural road out front (fortunately, equipped with electricity, water, and PLDT fiber internet). But...whatever will be will be.

About one year after we completed our home, a contractor cut down three beautiful old mango trees across the right-of-way from our home to build a large, ugly building that looks like a clinic. It is a home for some guy and his family, but was hit with an ugly stick many times... Then, recently, the wealthy landowner of the surrounding lands, decided he wanted to make his properties more appealing to potential buyers. So he commissioned someone to cut down all the remaining mango trees from this old orchard. It is now wide open, hot during the sunny days and just not so nice as before. We are fortunate and pleased that we had the foresight to plant trees and other plants in the almost 1k sqm lots that we had already purchased. So now, our property is like an oasis and loaded with all sorts of trees, nice grass, and a cooling and mellow environment. Going out the front is devastated and ugly, but inside is pleasing and calm and very green! I remember when you built your house and always kept us updated with pictures of the progress. I really enjoyed it and it would be great if you posted some pics of how the place looks now, especially the garden.

Friend has spent a fortune so far trying transfer name of property he paid for. Now they inform him as its over 5 hectares DAR involved. the can of expensive worms have been opened, its worse than a nightmare. 1
