Home schooling

Any of you have any experience here with Home Schooling...  Pros, cons, specific schools, costs, reviews etc.   A family member is going to come live with us, and I am seriously considering this option.  Any help, opinions are appreciated.

I do not have direct experience with home schooling since I never had kids. But I knew several families who lived aboard yachts who did. The results were remarkable. The kids eventually re-entered the regular schooling system after passing some qualifying exams and excelled way past their peers - and this is USA schooling system. The bad side - if you call it that - is that it required many hours daily for the parents to essentially act as teachers and monitor their kids work and homework. There were also numerous texts and exams that were mailed (shipped) to their various ports of call. But we're talking a decade or two ago, so I don't know how it works now. It is probably all online teaching which would still be better than the local school system (or lack of system) here.

We know three families here locally in the US who home school. Serious commitment of time in depth planning and resources but in their cases positive results. There are helpful online help forums to do with this.

Definitely do it if u have the time to commit.  My son isn't that age yet but we will be homeschooling for sure q
